im doing my civic 101 / d series 101 homework tonight..LOL..i will not lose again!!!
yeah i think he had traction issues too..but his lighter weight made up for it..that and i think my launches are weak with the 8lb flywheel
i think i would def pull on him from a roll like a 3rd gear run or an interstate run
Depends on whether it was a 1992-1995 or a 1996-2000.
The base model EG was about 2000lbs, and the 1996-2000 (EK) was about 2100 lbs.
Also, I wouldn't much expect an H22 to necessarily take care of your problem.
Most stock H22's, in most stock CB's, will run a low 15 to a high 14.
As you can see, I was already pretty much there with a 106HP stock motor with 2 bolt ons...a bigger stock Honda throttle body, and a header.
With a mildly built D16Y8, or a Y8 head on a Y7 block, and just a few more mods, it could have easily run 14's.
You must respect lighter cars always, because a 1992CX hatch needs about 200HP to achieve the same power to weight ratio that you would need 270-300HP to achieve. 200HP is not hard to get out of a Honda, where as 300 gets more challenging. A VW Beetle can do it with 150-160HP.
Besides. No matter how fast you THINK you are, there is ALWAYS someone faster.

i think at higher speeds the h22 defintely has its advantages (sp)200 hp maybe the shorter gearing is what will def help on a drag...
it was defintely a 5th gen eh2 civic hb ...
yeah 1,000 lbs makes a diff cb7 (3,000lbs) vs eh2 (2,000) 2.2 vs 1.6.. i think i had a good win / loss ratio comparing power to weight ratio on the 2 cars........
i think my 8lb flywheel doesnt help my launches at all...its awesome for acceleration..but not launches!!!.. go with 12 lb if you do.. get a lighter flyweel!!

Like I said, I could have been deep into the 14's with just a couple hundred $ in mods.
The H22 in an Accord if properly driven will give many many Civics a fair run for their money, but you must tread with caution.

wow...
verry blunt race you had there with little detail.. but least you won once right.
i have to say,, i use to have a bad lil f22 motor and it spun through 3rd if not driven properly... and now i have an h22,, the h22 does feel much slower and is an automatic... yet it still beats most anything i run against.... it feels like i can sit there and enjoy the view,, while leaving the car beside me in the dust... it's weirdish crazzy..."Self Renewed"

but yeah..BEWARE..just because you have a H22 swap into a CB..doesn't mean you can or will beat a swapped Civic Hatch...they ARE light..and nimble.
and depending on what tranny that civic hatch owner is using..you could have a battle on your hands!
( COUGH ) GSR TRANNY with stage 3 clutch and lighter flywheel! ....mated to a B18B/B16A2 head with ITR stage 2 cams and full exhaust and cold air intake and chipped ECU..............
you could lose
you never know with these civic hatch owners...SOME are VERY-VERY sneaky!
NOTE: theres someone running around in California...with a flatblack ...steelie wheels..and K20 swap ( RSX type S swap to be exact )...and a stock sounding exhaust..hes QUICK!
it looks completely stock ( ZZZZZzzzz ) ...when I last checked...when I went to visit my cousin in Stockton, CA....that guy was fabbing up a turbo sidewinder manifold for that K20...so he could well be boosted by now...so any Stockton Cali area members...BEWARE of a FLATBLACK...steelie wheeled civic hatch..( 92-93 ) hes pretty quick.Last edited by SN2BH22CB7; 07-06-2007, 11:46 AM.92 LX. Yo...you said you build civics...Hmmm
why dont you build 2 twins..
one with a
B20 bottom / B18C head with a slightly bigger intake cam!
and the other
B18B bottom / B16A2 head with ITR cams mated to a YS1 tranny!
and build an oddball ( 3rd )
just for kicks
B20 complete swap but bored over..lower compressed and boosted! ( T60 trim turbo ) with a cold side of a T4
all 3 hatches!
different chassis though...
2 EGs..and the oddball....an older EF hatch
that would be NAWCE92 LX. A6 with GUDE bullfrog Cam. M2S4 transmission..Gutted H23 intake mani. The rest you will just have to find out!

on a side note to the post I made earlier....
I heard from the grapevine that...
some of those civic hatch owners are slapping in ITR pistons in that LS block....
I dunno how that would work out..but thats what I heard...
its either the B18B or the B18C block and they're using the ITR pistons...so like I said earlier....they can be VERY-VERY sneaky!92 LX. A6 with GUDE bullfrog Cam. M2S4 transmission..Gutted H23 intake mani. The rest you will just have to find out!
