raced a civic coupe tonight with a b18 ls in it from a roll at about 40mph and he pulled on me by about 5 cars he had intake and exhaust i have i/h/e 8lb flywheel. i didnt think he was going to pull that much on me?

it wasnt an ls/vtec it was just a stock ls with intake and exhaust. it wasnt anyone i knew i was coming up on him on the highway and when i caught him he wanted to race so we did from a roll of about 40 and he took me by about 5 cars and i caught back up to him and asked him what he had and he said single cam and i was like theres no way. so we pulled off the highway and we were talking for a little bit about hondas

He coulda had a boosted D. Did he pop his hood? Or you just goin by what he said (no one likes to give away there setup unless they like to show off). A properly boosted D is fast. If it had an LS in it he must have a diff trans. The b18B isnt that quick I know that. If he put 5 cars on you there is something hes not telling you.

How long have you been racing and what gear did you start out in? I can sort of beleive it because the civic is a bit lighter then our cars. So throw anything besides a single and will have a little more get up and go. Nice try next time see what you can do off of a roll. Might have better results.

People make fun of the LS because it doesn't have the almighty "VTEC", but they are no joke, not even with an LS tranny.
I know the EG hatch is lighter than the coupe, but a friend of mine had a stock B18B in an EG hatch fully loaded with AC and everything.
It was as fast as Ray's swapped H22 Accord, until VTEC.
When you consider it has as much power stock as your car does, and the Civic is most likely 100-200lbs lighter, and they rev and pull higher, and make decent torque down low, it isn't surprising to me that he won.
5 cars makes me think maybe he had an engine in better running shape than you. There is a lot more to making a car fast than just putting mods on it.
How is your air an fuel filter? How about routine maintenance and valve adjustment? Those will all make a HUGE difference in the way an F22 runs.
Honestly, I almost prefer the LS over the B18C because they are cheaper and performance can be VERY similar for not a lot of scratch.
I have an LS swapped EF with a GSR cable tranny and that SOB moves.
A friend of mine had a similar car with an LS and LS tranny, and it was just recently running very low 14's, pretty much stock.
