VIDEOS : My Friday night at the track

So I went to the track this Friday, hoping to run some high 13's...
My best run was a 14.3 @ 99mph. Car was running like crap. Battery light kept coming on at random times. I think my alternator is about to die.

I mostly ran my friend's VR6 Jetta all night. His best run was a 15.0, but he has no tach on it, nor a shift light right now. I think he can do a lot better, but it was his 1st time. It's a built VR; all internals, high compression.

Then I also raced a bunch of random cars:

    Mazda Milenia S...

I think he did like a 17 something...

Then I raced some girl in a new Civic coupe...

...I'm not sure she knew how to shift properly, cuz she also did a 17 something second pass.

Generally all night long everyone was running uber slow. I'm not sure if it was too humid that night or the track was too slippery, or a combination of both...

Then as I was about to do my last run aiming for atleast a 14 flat, my car stalled. After a few minutes of diagnosing the problem, I figured out it I have no spark. It was my internal coil that blew.
So I called CAA for a flatbed tow truck and cracked open a beer!

This is the tow truck driver hooking up the chains to my tow hooks. Could these rice rockets be any lower?

This is me supervising the whole ordeal of securing my car on the flatbed.

And so I got the royal treatment tow back to Toronto. The next day I went out and bought myself an MSD external blaster coil. Modified my JDM distributor to run external coil just like the USDM distributors. Hopefully the MSD will be more reliable.

My CB7 is now ***FOR SALE***

Dude your my fuckin idol bro. Very nice track times even though you had some issues witht he car you still managed to pull through. You make me proud during back in my time when i still had my h22 when i ran the in the streets illegally. Very nice indeed btw do you have a LSd in the car. If not then you should and watch you get 14 flat or 13.9 even

i think you should install the msd ignition and fix the car up a bit so shes running good. then when your hitting up the track, fill 1/2 tank of 93 octane and see how she runs.

What tires do you have. Also do you have any weight reduction done? Very good times. Any upgraded internals?

Thank You all for the positive feedback!!!

To answer some of your questions :

                - The car weights 2900lbs by itself and 3080lbs with me in it.
                - Yes I do have an LSD tranny
                - I installed an MSD blaster coil the next day after, so I think it's should be better now (or atleast more reliable)
                - I ran with a 1/2 a tank of gas of 94 octane
                - The tires I was running are Falken Azenis RT-615's

Everyone I spoke to afterwards said that they were running almost a second slower than what they usually run. It was extremely hot and humid that night.

Got my MSD external coil and new alternator installed. Car seems to be running much better now.
Planning to go do some circuit lapping very soon.

With all those mods, there is no reason you should not be running in the 13's.

                          Is your ecu tuned?

Still, better times than about 90% of h22 cb7's on here.

But seriously, there's no reason you shouldn't see 13's, besides bad driving.
