h22 cb street racing

Went to the cruizen block friday, Met up with a bunch of guys, another cb, 99 si, kia 5door, eclipse yada yada. so we all decided to go race. we pulled out onto the two lane highway, and two at a time took off. first race i was second in line and up against a sentra.. wasted him, and came flyin up on the 99 si. second race once again from about 5-10 mph against an eclipse, he held on untill i hit vtec then by the top of second he was like 3 cars back. we made a u-turn then came back the other direction. all of a sudden theres like 3 cop cars flyin with lights and sirens wailing chasing after the tail end cars. Me and the SI took off i ended up beating him and turned down another street, to get stopped at a light. All of a sudden i look in the mirror and im surrounded by smoke. I started checkin all my gauges n every thing was fine. the si had like 5k invested in the motor, and i beat him by a like 2 cars untill he hit is brakes to turn, he was like wtf you got? i didnt answer by this time im tryin to figure out whats up wit my car. so i pulled in a parking lot and popped the hood to find a leak. the smoke wasnt coming from the exhuast which was my first guess, so im checkin under the hood and the guy in the si was like "your leakin". i look down and theres like 3quarts of oil on the ground! i looked under the car and it was commin from the tranny. WTF! this sucks. so i had to get it towed, costed like 110 bucks.

Ouch that dont sound too good. Have you been able to trace where the leak is comin from? Hope nothing is wrong with the motor itself.

If it was coming from the tranny.. and you didnt hear any loud nasty noises, you have a few choices...

Well, depending on if the oil could have been tranny fluid, rear main seal, cracked oil pan/tranny, or maybe just an easier fix of maybe the filter coming loose or something stupid. But since we cant e-check your car, i would suggest maybe taking a closer look, seeing exactly where the oil is coming from, so we arent playing target practice blindfolded.

Yeah bro please keep us posted indeed. Raise your car up some I think in all the suspense you hit something not paying attention. Definitely get that checked and keep us posted.

well it was definatly coming from the tranny, because my oil pressure is fine, it didnt fluctuate at all. from the looks of it the oil is coming from a seam in lower portion of the tranny, not sure if thats the origin or just where it was dripping from. wednesday im gonna put it on the lift and check it out. i dont think it is something simple like an axle slipping out. it may be an axle seal, but im gonna rebuild the tranny for sure because it wont go in third or forth gear now without a huge fight. its been acting up for a few weeks now so i knew the tranny was gonna crap out, but i didnt think like that. ill keep ya posted on the members ride thread too.

ps h22sparkle: I have pretty decent clearence under my car near the oil pan and tranny, just gotta watch the road. the road we were racing on was just paved smooth not too long ago, so hiting something is out of the question. i was shifting so hard and my car is so loud that any noise would have been drownd out. I dont recall a harder grind or crunch more than what ive been feeling lately anyway.

My guess is there probably is a hole or crack in the casing. It may have been an axle seal or something, but if it was pouring out after you had stopped, I wouldnt get my hopes too high. But... just keep us updated.

off topic- anyone recommend a tranny type any why would you reccommend it? Its hard to find an h22 tranny around here, i think im gonna go w/ an h23

I wouldnt go with anything else but a h22 tranny perhaps you should throw an quaife lsd in there. The h23 tranny is for economy /sports but you wont be up there with the h22 gear ratio. There will be slight holdback because the ratios werent really made for it. Dont even bother with it order one from hmotorsonline or if your local to me i can get one shipped for you or search on the boards and see. But make sure to be positive that its an absolute h22 transmission.

yea ive seen that on other posts, but i was thinkin of goin turbo isnt that the h23 the better because of the ratios? or am i wrong. thanxs for the hmotorsports tip though.

Thats gangsta huh? Nothing sucks more than smoking somebody and looking cool, then having to have ur shit towed cuz its busted...damn, i hate that shit! Good luck on the swap bro..maybe go with a f-tranny...???
