first race with the new motor

i really don't like street racing but when you got a freshly broken-in motor under your right foot it's really hard to resist the temptation.

crusing down the freeway at 75mph i see a decent 5th gen lude. i speed up to about 80mph and pass him slowly. he then downshifts so i follow to 4th gear (why he would downshift on an accord with a roof rack is beyond me. he must have seen my 5" tach LOL). we go at it and surprisingly i pulled away slightly the whole time (about 5 seconds) until i hit my limit at 113mph (jdm p13 blah!) and he kept going. i know reaction times, aerodynamics, etc come into play but it was fun to know that i can hang somewhat with the newer ludes.

now no more wasting gas. at over $3/gal my 35mpg civic is looking awfully good . i just wanted to share my gas-wasting experience!

    Nice man

I know how you feel, a fresh new Motor, fresh new "humble" beginnings for the Accord.

You have a roof rack on your car? at least it's better than a 4 foot aluminum wing

nah, only playing...drive safe, be easy.

good job. but let me tell you something. that race is only one of many you will have. i always tell myself i dont race, but when someone comes up next to you and downshifts... its animal instinct, almost like the car downshifts itself.

yeah but judging from the looks of my car most people won't bother trying to race me. maybe the opportunity still hasn't presented itself. when i had steelies and no roof rack i got hit up more. maybe i should do the initiating .

Go job timmy. Since I recently got mine I really havent been able to push the motor to its true potential. But its kinda hard to drive easy knowing that you have that nice power under your hood.

lol first race of many has someone has already said. I couldn't resist hitting vtec 100 million times a day and I still do in my bb2 prelude. The motor just went in and I'm already hitting vtec alittle. Have fun... vtec eats gas.
