WTF?* 98 Cavalier vs Me

Ok one of my friends, his name is Matt hes got a 98 cavalier, all that hes done to it is aftermarket muffler and a k&N filter on stock piping... my 90 EX has cold air and aftermarket muffler. Ok so were are side by side at a slight roll goin bout 6or7 mph we both gunned it and he pulled on me.. my question is why? My only thought is heavier car for me.. idk im gonna race him again

oh yea those cavaliers are 2.2L right just like my f22a1?

It depends, if its a z24 cavalier its a 2.4 DOHC, but yeah if its just a regular cavalier it should be the 2.2, but i not the ecotec 2.2, i dont beleive, i had a 2000 sunfire and it was just the SOHC 2.2

The Cavs had a 2.2 OHV with 120HP in the 98 base models and a 2.4 liter DOHC Quad 4 rated at 150HP (they also have a lot more torque than you)in the Z24. If it is the base model, that could be a drivers race, because he only has 5 fewer HP, better low end torque and slightly less weight. If it was a QUAD 4, he most likely would have walked you pretty bad with the amount of mods you both have.

The intakes would free up a bit of HP, but at least on your car, just a muffler really isn't going to do anything on the exhaust side.

ive raced my buddies z24 and never once have I won. Ive been close, only because I'm a better driver than he is, but with my f22a1(stock) he stomps on me, they have more torque and hp than us, and a little less weight, I think theyre also dohc.

Ive beat other cavaliers, just not any z24's

The F22A6 has 15 more HP stock than an F22A1. So you were within 10 HP of a stock Z24. Plus the intake and exhaust. The Z24s with the Quad 4 pull well in the top end too though...

I raced a Z24 a little while back. He put up a decent fight even with my H22, and he was bone stock. He's now a member here. A Z24 SHOULD easily be able to walk on an F22 if the drivers are equal. Of course, the driver is the most important part!

hell yea they do. When I raced my friend, we were pretty much even through 2nd, then he hit third and damn, it was as if he had just hit boost, he just left me. They have their own version of vtec, lol. but im gona race him again once i get my 272 regrind and some PnP work done.

A decently tuned ecotec motor is not a slouch. Theres a guy around here that has a 00 cavaqueer ecotec thats an auto...he kills guys left and right that underestimate his car.

I love cavaliers. I wish I could work with my moms 02 5spd (ecotec). I love that motor! So so so much potential.

yea man dont sleep on them cavaliers man my boy has one a 4 door automatic 2.4L and hey only has a filter and a muffler and he did a 16.3 at the 1/4 track...he pulls on me hard on top end ......

yea its the 98 base model 2.2L i believe its an auto and so is mine but yea i was quite pissed off...hmmmm think im gonna boost my 200,000 mile engine... F22A1 BABY!

Yo..talk to my boy about his PAST J-Body ( oozingmachismo2 ) E-dub ..he's a member on here.... had a '98 Z24 Auto...those things are decent..

he now owns a ...black 92 CB7 EX....( replaced JDM F22A ) NOT A4/A6 just the JDM F22A and it runs like a TOP
