Hey whats up everybody. So my friend he works with me and he just bought a 1985 Toyota Supra (Inline 6 DOHC /with a intake, Rear wheel Drive) and he had been wanting to race me since he got it (I own a 1991 Honda Accord LX F22 with 4-2-1 header, high flow cat, Performance Muffler, Cold-Air-Intake, mesh fliter, and Denso Iridium plugs.), and I'v been hearing about it every day at work. So he gets off work and says he will see me later and I'm like aight later. But when I get off work (about 5:30 p.m. tonight 01/29/06) he rolls up and was like were going to get this over with, and I was like aight cool. So I get in my car and he said to follow him, he said he knew a good place, and I was like aight cool. So I followed him for a little bit and we get to this red light and he waves me over to come on the side of him, and he says "at this light" and I'm like aight cool. So we wait for the light. At green we both burn the hell out and take off. After burn out I pull ahead. Second gear I see him start to pull up. I shift into third I start to pull on him and then he shifts to third and he pulls up a little bit and then I hit forth gear and I start to pull a little bit more and I start to see his head lights in my rear view mirror, and at about 110 mph I'm about 2 or 3 car lengths ahead and then I start to slow down. We pull over and I asked him what happened, and he claims he messed up in third, and I was like okay what happened, and he said he was double clutching the whole time. But anywayz, whatever he says I still think I beat his Supra fair game. DONT MESS WITH CB7'S!!! Were going to race again. Next time I'm going have my other friend tape it and I'll show ya'll.

Haha good kill. I can believe this to a certain point. Only because they can be hella slow w/ a faullty driver, and the turbo versions arent as fast as they should be. And there a little bit on the heavy side. But yeah next time get that vid clip so we can see it and watch you beat or get beaten.

keep it that way then^^. lol. It's some ricer shit they got off FnF.
Double is meant for cars that the tranny's synchros dont work. They have to double clutch. Have you ever heard a semi shift? It takes forever for them to get into the next gear huh? Thats because they step on the clutch, then release, and then step on the clutch and then put in the gear. That first step gets the tranny going.
atleast thats how I understand it. Its completely useless for trannies that the synchros work.

I've heard that it can help in drag racing, but I have absolutely no idea how... That extra time spent shifting can't possibly be good! Double clutching is most useful when cornering to keep the engine going at the same speed... usually when downshifting. Think of it as advanced rev matching
Anyway, the 85 Supra never came in a turbo version. They were all NA in stock form. The only thing that's kept me from getting one myself is that it takes a lot to stuff the 2jz-gte or the 7m-gte in there.
^that's what it looks like... not like lil_dcb7's or empera's cars. Turbo models started in 1986.5 (yes, a half-year model)

OMG the Starion! Yeah, that car is my favorite of all! Stock widebody = That car was HEAVY though! Someday, if I ever manage to make over 6 figures, I'd love to make an oldschool racing "team" (by "team" I mean a bunch of cars I modify and race... ) consisting of my favorite 80s imports. FC, Celica Supra, AE86, Starion, CRX, and of course, the 3G Accord hatchback! Might as well toss in an 89 R32 Skyline as well (since I'm dreaming, might as well have fun, right?)

Deev, I have to disagree with you to a certian extent.
The MK2 Supras (AKA Celica XX in Japan land) was offered with a SOHC turbocharged variant, the MT-E, (obviously M series engine turbocharged), and also, believe it or not, a Twin Turbocharged variant the DOHC 1G-GTE.
The US Celica Supra with the 5M-GE engine made roughly around 165 at the crank. Put that into a unnecessarily heavy chassis(MK2), and my grandma's Festiva could have it, if driven right. Not a GOOD kill, but a Kill none the less, and it would be expected that you win.
EDIT: OH! I almost forgot to enlighten ya'll about the half year. lol
there was a delay in production with the MK3 Supras. Im pretty sure they were supposed to debut in 1986, but Like i said, there were delays, and the last HALF year that the MK2 was sold, it came with cheap little gimmics like a third brake light I believe the MK4 was the same way, that generation started as a 1993.5Last edited by lil_dcb7; 02-08-2006, 10:45 PM.

oh by the way mike....turbo model supras didnt start until 1987 Mk2 are pretty damn slow but lighter than mk3's , so putting a 7mgte, 1jzgte, 2jzgte would be damn good for it. Only thing mk3's can do is lighten the load which im doing, We'll hafta race one of these days, im almost ready for u daddy

Interesting... I always thought that the 86.5 models had turbos as well... I drove what was supposed to be a turbo 86.5! The guy at the lot also told me that it made lots of noise when starting up because of the DOHC setup... "it takes a while for the oil to get into the cams". Never buy from CW Clarke on rt 130!
As soon as Atco opens up, Julio... I'll put your turbo brick in it's place!
