street race civic SPINS OUT ON HWY!!!

MAN was my heart going... Ok... Merged on the highway around 7pm so it's somewhat dark and I see some headlights a couple hundred yards back that I thought were projection lights and from the silouhette I figured it was possibly a ricer. Sure enough a red 2dr civic rolls by. Mid 90's model, white rims, can muffler, dropped about 2 inches <--(key). Roll's by me so I speed up a bit next to him...

(im the wavey he's the noddy)

I speed up a bit ahead of him

    | | |

And then there is a third lane that opens up

    | | | |
    | | | |

There is a car in the middle and he tries to go to the right but I hit the gas and take it so he swerves (rather hard I noticed) back to the far left lane.My lane is clear and my car was pulling hard on him so I haven't a clue why he'd want to go in that lane since there were cars further on in the left lane and he'd have to get over again back behind me.

    some im about:

I look back and he's pulling back into the far right lane well back from me but for some reason he pulls on that thing like only and indy car driver in an indy car should and ends up with his back end swinging out towards the right side and I'm watching in horror as he's sliding sideways on the shoulder. It looked like after getting sideways he would either keep going backwards or his car would catch tread again and head back into traffic going sideways but SOMEHOW he JUST managed to stop on the shoulder and no more... If his car had kept going past the shoulder he would have gone down a steep embankment and rolled over, and if it had gone the other way it would have been bye-bye to his car and a whole bunch of others as well.

I don't think it's quite hit me... I know nothing horrible happened, but it could have been... People have to know that their cars aren't glued down, and especially if you change things you gotta know what all the limits are. I've pushed it a bit but once I feel it's even close I back up a bit and dont keep going. That and don't do stuff cheap... (learned that from several things) All the bouncing cars ive seen... half a suspension job is a deathwish if you do anything other than drive normally. I don't think he was going anymore than 90-95 and he still lost it. Anyways it was another reason I'm more and more careful not to just do stuff stupidly cause someone challenges you. I had an easy shot and he coulda made it simple but no he had to do some drifting trick... EIther way it was def a kill his car was slow as a minivan... (modified 12 second Caravans don't count)

yeah and he may have had bad rear tires = bad suspension. Either way when I lower my car I'm gonna do it right. As I've been told and found out you either pay now or pay later. And when you pay later you almost always pay more.

Another thing: twas at the honda heaven salvage today and when I was checking out this guy was asking bout plates from one of the cars. The ppl at the lot asked how he totalled it (car was more bent and twisted than you could imagine) he replied with the line

        " I hit a wall doing a buck-twenty"

Anybody remember that line from somewhere???

It's fun until you spin out. I did once while avoiding an accident with the a semi-tractor and a cement truck. I think it was those damn cheap tires I put on it, $200. NEVER, EVER going to do that again. It's good that you look a little further down the road. My wife drives like that other guy, if your more than 20 feet past the front of me you don't exist.
It really is a labor of love making a neglected CB7 with "normal wear and tear" into something worth being proud of.

In Washington... If he were to have wrecked into another car and killed someone or even if he was killed... you would be charged with Manslaughter in the second degree. Some deep shit to think about, you both got lucky.

Yeah I've been thinking of putting all coilovers on my car but I'm scared of spinning out on my crappy tires. I think I'm gonna fix those first and then go w/all coils, and some Koni Reds.

Yeah I always look wayyy ahead. MAn I had a newer cadillac cts suddenly stop really early in front of me to yeild for an off ramp and I had just looked over for a fraction of a second to see if anyone was coming on the ramp and look back and he had come to an instant stop. I swerved quick as heck and almost skinned his bumper (only going about 40mph) and then there was a curb right there and so I went to straighten out just as fast and man I was drifting. It was right next to an airport fence and I thot I was gonna jump the shallow curb into the fence but somehow I managed to come out in control still in my lane... I hope to not have to drift like that again unless I'm on an open track trying to drift cause that scared the heck outa me

I've heard of stuff happening like that in Texas too actually. I think it was like a Porsche and a Vette racing and the guy in the Vette wrecked and died... so the guy in the Porsche got charged with some sort of manslaughter just for racing him. At least this wasn't a literal kill even though it sounds like it almost was. You just really have to watch out for stupid people like that.
