    H22 vs. 76 Vette

My friend just bought a 1976 L48 Corvette. I was following him on our way to his wedding. I thought what the heck, I'll give it a try. We were on the on ramp to the 401. I kept it in third gear. I heard his exaust growl and away we went. I actually stuck with him up into fifth gear and then he started to slowly pull away at around 160 km/h. I was surprised to stay with him that long. I'm sure if it was an off the line race he would have blown me away.
My mods are JDM H22a, M2B4 LSD, Stage 2 ACT clutch, lightened flywheel, cheap header, Random High flow cat, Apexi WS, short ram intake.
His car is bone stock, 4-speed, 5.7 litre

The 76 Vette was a dog. If its 100% stock, its probably only got around 200 hp. It probably would be a drivers race.

      *EDIT*

I'm not knocking on the Vette...esp. the 76...the last year of the tunnel and no glass hatch, but they just had no power in the mid to late 70's. 350 with a two barrel lol.

The older Vettes really had no power... especially in the dawn of emissions controls. All those powerful V8s were crippled by the new restrictions. I remember when looking for early 80s V8 cars, I see them advertised as high end models with 160hp!

Those Vettes have great potential, and they're beautiful cars, but without some tweaking they're nothing special. I'm actually surprised he pulled on you at all with your mods!

The stat sheet he got when the car was appraised said the car has 185 hp, 270 torque. Also....I couldn't believe this, but it weighs over 3400 lbs!

Next I'm going to try my buddies 2004 Quad Cab Hemi Ram pick up.

Yo..if you change out the heads...intake mani...cam...and exhaust with free flows..( Hooker headers with flowmaster duals) you can UNLEASH ALOT of power...just from changing out the ENTIRE top end!!! and matched with a MSD igniton and reworked tranny

been there.... done it with a 460...completely CAST IRON is heavy and limits HP...change out to aluminum heads...Luminati oversized Cam... Roller lifters.....edlebrock intake..and edlebrock 4BL 850 carb..with the exhaust I just mentioned...WILL OPEN the HP! reworked the C6 tranny..and it was a quick HEAVYWEIGHT!
