SRT-4 is a NEON plain and simple, call it what you want. Im close to sea-level at Firebird Raceway so times are a little slower, but Ive raced a neon, sorry SRT-4, in my 98 Cobra. This kid had his helmet on and all, he ran a 15.4 to my 14.1, those neons are everywhere out here. Thay are not all that.

what's your setup? boosted f22a6 making 250whp? h22a with all bolt ons made N/A making 250whp?
but his sig says he ran 14.06 something (going off memory)
but very good kill and keep up the good workNighthawk Black Pearl ES1

ironically, the srt-4 shares VERY little with the neon......go figure out for yourself what's interchangeable...not much at all.....whether YOU like it or not, it's not a neon and if you wanna prove me wrong, go ahead and find any proof that it is...all you'll see is the dodge emblem, the word "dodge" and srt-4 on it.....so give up on that, you're wrong, hell, even the engine's mount points are totally different.....again, you're wrong, sorry, deal with that
and since one kid who sucked at driving ran a 15.4, you think that's a nice average time...if you ran a 14.1 there, then a stage 2 srt-4 should have kept up with you with a decent driver......not all cars or drivers are equal, but to put down a car that cost half of what your cobra did and still be capable of high 13's stock and low high 12's with a few SIMPLE mods that even come in factory warrantied packages, well, that's just jealousy rearing it's head IMO....
they aren't the fastest thing, but for that amount of money, you won't find many cars that can outperform it new vs. new.....[deevergote]" It's not the car that makes the ricer... it's the ricer that ruins the car!"

We will just agree to disagree to me its a Neon, it looks just like a neon with a hood scoop and some wheels. My Cobra didnt cost nowhere near what a SRT-4 does, I think I paid $11,000 for the car and kept it for like 6 months I figured out I dont like Fords. I think the SRT4 is a great bang for the buck car but I have yet to see one at the track here in Phoenix thats stock run a 13 second pass. Maybe its the level of our track. I dont know but out here Neons dont run high 13's stock. The average Ive seen honestly is mid to high 14's. I may be wrong but wouldnt alot be interchangeble besides the powertrain, isnt the SRT-4 based of a Neon Body.Last edited by xlr857; 04-21-2005, 10:15 PM.

Fizz how could you say a 17 second car... I have your old car???
Look, I beat the guy fair and square he even said so himself. Its good enough for me and that is all that matters. It was stage 2 from the factory.
Nobody thought that the one guy would beat the S2000, but he KILLED it!
I dont have any reason to lie. I just thought I would share my win with you guys. But whatever...90 4 door w/JDM h22a(LSD)-intake-exhaust-clutch-flywheel=13.8@102 BITCHES!!!!

Honestly, anything can happen. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I've beaten a 350Z on the streets. I certainly shouldn't have, and if we were ever to run again I doubt I would, but that time I pulled ahead. Circumstances, driver error, hesitation because of location (street racing makes some people hold back)... all those thing contribute to a win. Things that aren't related to the machinery OR the winning driver.
I think it's funny how fizz is saying what he was able to do in his car, and what it SHOULD be able to do with better tires... Then we're all reminded that it IS his car being driven! I completely forgot about that myself!
Still, the SRT-4 SHOULD win, even against that car. Surprisingly, they are designed quite well! I won't call BS, since I see no reason for people to lie on the internet. If you tell the story, I'll believe it. If you're lying, then you're just a sad, sad person.

The SRT-4 is BASED on the neon. That's about it. It has the same basic look, only a bit more extreme. It has roughly the same dimensions. After that, it gets off track. The interior is much more performance oriented, the suspension is superior, and obviously the motor is significantly different!
The SRT-4 is not a standard neon, true. Still, it is a Dodge product, and an inexpensive one at that. I agree that it's a great product for the price, but I'm waiting to see what problems develop in the next 3 years. If they last that long without any significant widespread problems (like the 98-ish Intrepid 2.7L motor... pretty much ALL blew up after 80k!) then I'll agree that they are awesome cars. Right now, they're speed on a budget. Beavis said it best: "You can't polish a turd". I'm waiting to see if this IS a turd or not!
