5th gear at 35 miles an hour is completely do-able.
Its easy to drive around town at 1200-1500 rpm, even with the F22 transmission. It takes a little bit of thinking ahead, since you're obviously not doing any accelerating at that RPM, but driving at 1200-1500 is absolutely reasonable. Get your accelerating done, keep an even foot, and it's a butter zone.
Plus, if you step on the clutch or let off the gas pedal at that low rpm, your passengers' heads don't all tilt forwards, since there's pretty much no engine braking. 35 mpg is not a problem if I keep revs down.
Nice kill, though. Chalk another up another one for the H22, the poor man's K20.
