    Flatline's First Drag strip night...

So i got to take my H22 CB down the strip a few times. Pretty awesome. My first time doing so. Here's what i have.

    JDM H22A
    F22 Ex Tranny
    I/H/E
    No P/S
    Stock P13 ECU

I started off REAL bad. My first run was shitty. No traction and my first two runs gave me trouble getting into second. Now i gotta take it easy on that gear.

    R/T was .723
    1/8th was 11.9
    1/4 was 17.85
    79.52 MPH

I continually got better and better.

    Second Run
    1/4 16.67

    Third
    16.13

    fourth
    16.01

    fifth
    15.78

    Sixth
    15.58

    Seventh
    15.61

    Eigth
    16.16

I stopped for a while seeing as i was getting slower. Went for another two runs before the track closed for a 15.92 and a 15.81 before they cut me off.

    I think 15.5 isn't bad without a tune and bolt-ons.
I also have a 2.5" TB and an exhaust leak.

Gonna do work and aim for mid-low 14's next time.

Wow, I've been to the track atleast 3 times and collectivley you have more runs than me. I wish our track was like that. Can barely get in 2 runs a day.

By the time i get a chance to run again.... i am going to get an upgraded TB since mine is only a 2.5" and fix that exhaust leak. and i was thinking about H tranny. would probably get me into high 14's alone.

but i want to look into type S cams as well then a full tune....

and better tires. most of my runs started off bad because of wheel spin.

I would hope all that not including the H tranny should be good for high 14's

I saw Toyota matrix's hitting 15.2's when they launched good.

          and 60's in order...
          3.13
          2.50
          2.53
          2.52
          2.49
          2.43
          2.42
          2.62

ill probably get the tranny after i move. the track is in Palm Beach and im moving over there soon enough. but i would like to get into the 14's with my F tranny and drop some jaws when i change the tranny after that.

Apparently i surprised everyone with a 15.5 because everyone was putting me at high 16's

Yuppp sounds exactly like mine..'01 H22A4 w/ stock F tranny (Except I had no header when I ran this year and last year), using Spoon P13, best time was 15.506@91.63mph, with 2.473 60'..That was my VERY first run at the drag strip ever...Actually, ALL my runs I've been stuck at 15.5xx the past 2 years

I've since then added Fujitsubo header w/ 2.25" DP, gutted cat, and M2A4 transmission..If all goes well by next summer I'll also have Euro-R IM w/ 68mm TB, better cams and mayyybe Quaife LSD?

                What wheels/tires setup were you running? That time I just posted I was running 15x7" SSR Type-X w/ 205/55/15 tires..This year I ran the 16x8" Intermilanos w/ 195/50/16, I got 60' down to 2.402 but I was stuck at 15.528@90.87mph..

Anyways, I'll be very happy if I can get into mid 14s with all the things in my wish list above (except for LSD, a bit out of range), plus better specs wheels & tires..Like you said, the tranny alone would help, but we'll see..All the best with yours! And that IS a lot of runs!!! I'm jealous!!! I'll be lucky if I get 3-4 runs in one track day

It's really the time that got me all those runs. It wasn't very busy at all and i started the track up so i was in the very first run of the day.

and i am running 16x7 (i think) and i have shitty General Exclaims 205/45/16's
Wheel spin was my enemy that night.

But i am going to take my time. I want to try to get into 13.99 within a year or so with some more extensive mods after i hit the 14's.

Probably get myself a nice H22 head, PnP, and fully build the head itself. Thats when i'll look into drag slicks.

I wanna ask something, i'm making with my f22a1 16.2sec in 1/4 mile, so if i drop a h22a i'm only going to gain 0.7 sec? (If it's rude I'm sorry)

well i was running cheap ass tires. wheel spin was a huge issue.

I am running a stock clutch and flywheel. My clutch didn't want to catch second gear right away.

I haven't run on a drag strip before. so im not practiced. probably a big reason everything else was a real problem.

also a reason i didn't have a very good reaction time. I my reaction time would have been better and i was running a better tire with a better clutch, i would have see 14's

                      and thats before a tune.

And your not being rude, but run against a healthy h22a CB7. you'll see how far 0.7 seconds is.

True that, i had issues with traction on my little engine on the strip and i have stage 2 clutch and cold tires never warmed them up, so i made a good reaction time launching like if i were in a traffic light, i made 0.005 if that helps make a better launch for you

you really don't need to warm up street tires. at all. there is no reason for it. even so, i would think that they would be warm by the third hot lap. and i did eight.

but wheel spin was a total bitch. and only one run did i actually get second easily. and that one wasn't a better run.

Yeah i learned how to avoid wheel spin running first and second on a wet surface, try it out and let me know if you improved your times, that technique i learned it from my dad that he had to do it when he was a professional driver.

I actually don't have the opportunity right now. and finding wet surfaces around here outside hurricane season is like searching for four leaf clovers.

as far as beating wheel spin, i plan on running better tires next time and i am hoping for LSD
