    is there a problem?

    Hey guys this is my first post here and i know i dont have a cb7 but you all seem pretty knowledgable. The thing is i went to alabama this weekend and we went the AL intnl. dragway.
    My time was
    RT= .773
    60ft= 2.496
    1/4 = 15.903
    mph = 90.3

    I realy thought i would have gone quicker than that. I have 17" konig verdicts but i doubt it slowed me down too much. The rest of the stuff is in my sig. The only think i coudl think of is i think the track may have a slightly high elevation cause everyones times seemed alittle slow. any comments or recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Seems like your problem might be traction. The 60' time isn't too good. Your trap speed is good for 14's.

      yeh thats wat i was thinking too. I wish i could find the elevation of that track though. I launch at around 1500rpm and only chirped for a second before i got traction. you guys think an lsd is prolly th only way to lower the 60ft or drag radials?

        You launched at 1.5k? wow that is low! you have to practice practice practice! slipping the clutch off the line helps out alot on those 60ft times....

          yeh i could try alittle higher rpm next time but i fear i may just spin more than i did at 1500. I wish i could slip the clutch but i have an h22 auto so that may be kinda hard lol. if could somehow pull my 60ft time to a 2.40 would that net me much improvement?

            Well that could be the problem. If you are launching at too low of rpm's you will get a bad launch too. You should be able to get your 60 foot times to at least 2.3. Try brake boosting at different rpm's from like 2k rpms on up, and see what works best.

              15.9 isn't all that bad for a first time out... The auto will slow you down a bit, as will the heavy wheels.

              Depending on what suspension you have, and what tires, you could have had some major wheel hop, which would KILL your 60ft. If you have cheap 40s on your heavy 17"s (like Kumho 711s) and a cheap suspension (any coilovers cheaper than Ground Control... like Dropzone) you probably had major traction trouble, and higher RPM launches will make it even worse.

              My first time out I was on bald Goodyear tires (cheapies) on my steelies. I launched under 2000 (manual H22) and I only ran a 15.577. Your bad time compared to my bad time is decent My launch with an auto would probably get me the same result as you have.

              I think if you practice your launch, try to keep wheel hop down (better tires, better suspension... stock suspension is better than cheap stuff) then you should at least be able to break 15.4 I would think.

                15.9 in an auto h22 is nothing unusual..

                  my suspension is i guess not too great so that may contribute to it. I have sprint lowering springs and kyb gas shocks. my tires are toyo proxes fz4 with about 70% tread on the front. Would running with the steelies help or hurt? they just have regular michelin tires on them.thanx for all the comment so far guys

                    Actually, you seem to have a decent setup. All I could recommend would be to get some KYB AGX shocks (I'm assuming you have the GR2 stock replacement ones... which aren't quite as good)
                    Sprint springs are decent, and your tires should be alright. You can always have better, but what you have should be ok. I would think the Toyos would be better than the Michelin tires.

                    In order to get a better launch, try playing with your tire pressure. I'm not a big fan of deflating radial tires (the contact patch buckles, causing you to actually lose traction, and wear out your sidewalls faster). However, a slight drop in pressure, 5-7psi less than normal driving pressure, might help wheelspin a bit.

                          I know they are pretty good tires.... Power means nothing if you can't get it to the ground effectively. They will help out on your launches. Just make sure you warm them up properly and keep the pressure around 20 psi at max when you are racing.

                            this may be a stupid questions but is there anyway to warm up BOTH tires when u dont have an LSD? I would think 1 would spin nicely while the other just sat there.

                              You should light them both up .... I don't have any trouble doing it and never had. It always seems to be more of a problem for rwd cars for some reason.
