the sad part is.. mike this was done in a magazine to a nissan sentra... lol.. they removed everything.. that shit was bare.. no doors.. no front bumper.. just sad shit but ran mid 14s i think lmao
I am a total doubleposting doofus and I should be flogged with a wet noodle! Dry noodles hurt too much, and they don't do the flogging thing too well... more of a whacking thing. I don't like whacking. Definitely flogging. Flogging is MUCH better!

Still, it was a totally stupid thing to say. Pissed me off, cuz I'm serious about this thread. The cool thing is that people can make their cars a good deal faster by getting rid of a few things that aren't all that necessary.
And removing parts that will add a significant amount of aerodynamic drag when removed (such as the windshield and bumpers) will probably slow the car down more than anything.

yeah, i think they would slow it down aswell.
Something to add to the first post... stock battery was around 43 pounds. Odessey pc680 weighs in at 11 pounds.
Those bumper supports are pretty heavy. I would say you could lose quite a bit by lightening them.
Im in FL and im still wondering about taking out the a/c. I have everything in but a few lines, but dunno if I really feel like hooking it up.
Im thinking about doing the Kentucky style cutting under the hood, but just in the back for the cooling effect. We'll see what has to be chopped up to allow that.
I recently removed my A/C on my 93 EX. I basically removed everything (all brackets, lines, compressor, condensor, evaporator, drier/receiver tank) and left the condensor fan in (still works).
My question is: When I weighed the parts listed above (minus cond. fan) it totalled up to only 50 lbs! I've read several times that it should be around 84 lbs, but the fan and refriderant couldn't have weighed 34 lbs, or could they?
Yeah, I'm alittle baffled I thought w/ everything but the cond. fan it'd be around maybe 70-75 or so. Can somebody tell me what I'm missing?

Thanks for your time
Dan
Well, it's compressed refriderant and it might weight alot, and the fan could weigh in at like 15 for the whole assembly.
I've been thinking about removing my AC, but it's been about 115 degrees for the past two weeks now. I guess you all love the hot air running past your face in the summer. Not here in the desert.
Does anybody how much a Bride Lowmax (the reclinable one) seat weighs. I plan on getting one, bu if it's the same as stock, I might not.

I dont know if this pertains to that. But when im going on i-95, and i have my windows
down, for some reason i feel like my car is actually slower.
But when i put my windows up, i gain like 15hp....
can sumbody explain to me the accuracy of this....
Windows down = slower car.
Having your windows down creates more drag... It really shouldn't be THAT noticable, but the more aerodynamic shape created with the windows up definitely cuts through the air a bit easier, especially at high speeds. Lowered windows allows more resistance.
I'm not quite as extreme as Kentucky (yet), but mime is also fully stripped. With me in it (140lbs), it weighed in at 2058 last time I went to Southern States. I have removed and lightened a few things since then too. You know places like that weigh your car when you get there and weigh your vehicle when you leave so they know how much to charge you for the mulch/rocks/whatever you're getting by the lb. It's free. The guy at the weigh station may laugh a little when you tell him that you just want to weigh your car, but they always let me

I searched the thread for "sway" but came up empty. If it's not a daily driver, but instead a dragster, removing the sway bar both front and (if you have it) back should yield some considerable weight since they are like solid steel bars, like weight bars bent into shape. If you are doing straight line 1/4 mile races, I don't see why you'd need a sway bar. <-?
on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.
has anyone mentioned the hood latch and switching to locking hood pins, since we are talking about removing 2 pound things thats gotta have some sort of diff. its one thing i saw that kentucky accord (or whatever his name is) didnt do
Just the pins are good enough. I didn't have any issues with mine...but when I needed an inspection, that was one of the reasons they failed me and said a latch is still required so I ended up putting it back on for the time being.
I would really like to get 4 individual scales and see how the weight is being distributed to each wheel at this point and then decide on what to remove/relocate next for better weight distribution. I mostly drag race, but I do love the AutoX events and try to make as many as I can so where the weight is at and center of gravity are very important for what I want to do. Has anyone else measured weight distribution per wheel?

Thank you! I wasn't sure how much the refrid. weighed b/c when I got the car there wasn't any refrid. in the system to begin w/. The condensor fan is heavier than the rad. fan b/c it has a metal frame.
Would anybody else know why my A/C parts ended up weighing only 50lbs and not around 70-75 or so? The only thing I left was the cond. fan! My post is afew posts above^ Thanks again
