    Question with a CG

    CG EX-V6 Auto

Yesterday I started the car and I heard a grind in the tranny(no big deal considering the thing has ALWAYS had a horrible tranny) but when I started to go it shifted out of 3rd and wouldnt shift into 4th so im sitting there reviing it and it wont shift... Then the check engine light comes on. So today I went to Advance and got the cel checked out the guy told me "The gear ratio is off". im like .. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

If its an auto, why are you talking about getting out of 3rd...

Sounds like the dreaded 6G Tranny Fail. Only thing stopping me from getting one.

Make sure you keep the fluid changed. I used to change the fluid in ours about every 12K or anytime it started to change color. I have a post on here somewhere about WHY this occurred, but the best defense is to change the fluid. If you could figure out a way to filter the fluid, that would be even better.

Also, if it isn't getting replaced with an OEM tranny, expect it to fail even sooner.

There certainly is. They can rebuild them with non-OEM parts which are often not of equal quality to the OEM parts in the same tranny.

If they aren't OEM corners or 1 of a couple of aftermarket providers, then he is cutting corners. Most people don't realize there is a quality difference between OEM parts and aftermarket. They are not necessarily the same, even if they have the same application.
