The R154 is a very stout tranny whether in Soarer form or Supra MK3 form. Good for 750whp no problem. Only problem is that Soarer R154s with the extended shift linkage runs a good $1200 these days, very rare. Supra MK3 trannys are dirty cheap.

The thing holding me back is the POS W58 tranny. Good for only 400ish whp.

Well if you are on supraforums go into the mkIII section and look up thrust washers. I have read stories of people going through trans with aggressive launches, clutches, and power. One dude had an ACT setup forgot what power rating and by the sixth run his shit was fucked up. I would look into that. There are quite a bit of people that witness this first gear thrust washer failure you can find all their stories on there.
