Yes, there is a specific reason.

An LS motor is going to have great out of the box power, would be fairly reliable, but good fucking luck paying for the motor and all of the components, and if you cant do your own labor... its self explanitory.

The 2J is a great motor too, but over-rated as fuck. And again, expencive due to the demand.

The 1J is a de-stroked 2j. It still makes a mad amount of torque, and can make rediculous numbers with a stock bottom end. Due to the shorter stroke the motor is much more responsive and revs very freely compared to its big brother. With healthy stock turbines the motor responds as if it were N/A. And it sounds a fuck lot better. The fact they cost about 1500 fucking dollars for the motor should help. You could probably get a Soarer or Supra half cut for half the cost of an LS 6speed and harness and or 2j with getrag 6 speed / harness. Sell the half cut shell for a stupid amount of money so some nerd could do a lame RHD conversion. With whatever you saved, you could easily up the power so the car would eat modified Z06's all day long. You just have to do it right.

If you want something a bit more straight foreward, do an rb25 or 26, as its a common thing to do. But again, the only cheap RB is the 2.0, and take it from me, they arent all that hot.

American tuning culture is a load of SHIT. So make sure you finish the chassis first, hardbucket seat / steering wheel, brakes, suspension, wheels tires and body bracing are the best things you can do for your car. So dont think about the engine yet.

Again, I only suggest the above, you do whatever your heart desires.

ok, so i washed the engine bay and took out those blue shits that are supposed to "camoflauge" into the "big picture" . Looks a lot better, but damn do i need to clean it up AND a wire tuck.

                Before:

                After:

I need to buy a new filter for it. That shits like rusting.

I connected the sound system, and that shit bumps HARD. Alpine type R 12" sub power matched to 500watts RMS by some Kenwood Amp, and A pioneer deck that was the 2nd best when i got it, only bc it didnt have the motorized face plate . Since it was a sound car, i also got with it some 6 inch mini subs for the rear speakers, and some other aftermarket fronts and tweets.

You dont even need patience and money for the damn things. Well, as compared to swapping in anything other than an SR20.

that seems like a common rule for 240SXs.... but I would be different and work with the KA24DE and see what kind of numbers I would get out of it.

too many people are swapping the KAs out....why not see what that stock engine can do with a considerable amount of modifications!

I do know...in stock form...they do fall on their face at a certain power range.

but work with it...see what kind of miracle you can squeeze out of that KA ..ya know!

na, i dont like the KA. Plus KA is pretty popupar for adding on the turbo. Plus, mine runs pretty shitty.

Im gonna put in a 1jz or a 2jz. Or a mix. I dunno yet. Dv8's segguestion for the front rhd clip sounds good and smart.

I'm willing to bet that for the cost of that 1JZ drivetrain/RHD you could have a nice second stage setup with the KA. Those engines eat boost. I also know first hand that KAs can take a serious beating. I take it you got that harness fixed/replaced?
