    nice man!
so hows the power feel from the 305? does it feel powerful or underpowered?

just found out mine needs the exhaust patched up, new left front wheel bearing, headlights that match (apparantly two are halogen and two are normal), and possibly the windshield wipers dont work, but i know they do caus we turned them on at the lot.

The first thing you have to do is yank out that fuckin' 305 and throw it in the garbage. It is not worth rebuilding or modding at all. The engine bay in that car is kinda small but you can still fit a 383sb in there. It ain't no big block but if you set it up right it will make your shit CRANK!!!

Or replace it with an old school (66-67) Z28 302....those engines were monsters and revved high as hell for their age.

"The Z/28 option code was introduced in December 1966 for the 1967 model year. This option package wasn't mentioned in any sales literature, so it was unknown to most buyers. The Z/28 option required power front disc brakes and a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. The Z/28 featured a 302(5.0L) small-block V-8 engine, 3" crankshaft with 4" bore, an aluminum intake manifold, and a 4-barrel vacuum secondary Holly carburetor of 780CFM. The engine was designed specifically to race in the Trans Am series (which required engines smaller than 305(5.0L) and public availability of the car. Advertised power of this engine was listed at 290hp (216kW). This is an under-rated figure. Chevrolet wanted to keep the horsepower rating at less than 1hp per cubic inch, for various reasons (e.g. insurance and racing classes). The factory rating of 290hp occurred at 5300 rpm, while actual peak for the high-revving 302 was closer to 360hp (with the single four barrel carb) to 400hp (with optional dual-four barrel carbs) (269 to 298kW) at 6800-7000 rpm."

You obviously have no earthly idea what you're talking about. A 305, 350, 355 and 383 are all the same size. They even go smaller than that on the same casting.

Nice looking car though. Do you have any plans on top end stuff like ported or SLP runners and porting the plenum and base? For the torque numbers that intake is capable of, I'd say it's worth improving. As for heads, since you'll have it apart I think ported Vortec heads would be a nice upgrade but you'd have to get the intake base to match. Keep it up and let's see this thing rebuilt.

well my 305 has balls... It does beat older 3rd gen 350 camaros that ran those crappy quadjet carbs. also my engine is roller cam, the older 305 wernt. The Torque is incredible. I do have both variations of the 305 for the 87-92 camaros the 305 tpi and the 305 tbi. I love the acceleration of the tpi,but I like the fuel economy for the tbi.

I would love to swap a L98 in there or a lt1, Lt5 or a ls1. But money is tight and I need have it running asap.

A big block does fit in there...
