    npor : 1997 GMC Sonoma

And a new chapter begins, My Sonoma. 5spd, 78,xxx miles, 2wd, SLS (Wtfever that means), manual everything. As you can see, it's a little rough around the edges. I need to replace the passenger side mirror, either remove or replace the rails on the bed, and replace that little plastic corner piece that's missing. My plans for this truck, keep it stock. Upgrade the audio some, new speakers and 2 subs, but that's it.

    Gas > 5.8L Ford Bronco.
    Gas < 2.2L GMC Sonoma

I'll edit this to the correct format tomorrow after school. but it's my DD as of now.

Never edited the post. Here's the most current picture I've got.

nice find man! how much did you pick that up for?

and you said it was rough around the edges, but to me it doesn't look that bad. ive seen much worse then that on newer ones.

the plans sound good too. usually when people get those they just 'bag it and get it touchin' the ground (not that theres anything wrong with that ). nice to see someone goin' a different route.

thanks for the support guys, i got some hate in the thread i posted in OT

anyway, i've been looking around for the s10/sonoma forums, and found two...but they're nothing compared to cb7tuner.
hopefully some lifting guru's can chime in if theres any.

any of you guys know where i can get an LSD for this truck? i've been reading up, and 2wd sonomas with lsd can keep up with some of the 4x4 trucks offroad

or positrack...the rear gears, wtfever they call them, i'm still new to this haha

fuck, i forgot to put the parking break on when i turned the truck off today and it rolled a little and bumped a tree. (like 2 ft away, i was still in the truck too.)

there's a little..scrapes on the front bumper, FUCK.

oh well, time to replace it with some sort of an aftermarket bumper....if they even make one for the sonomas

imo, you cant lift an s10 (or a sonoma or whatever ) and have it look good. of course, i really want a minitruck draggin on bags, so i am a little biased. i know its your project, so do what you want. i want to see what you get done on it

the only thing that sucks about lifted s-series trucks (i would know, i used to have one) is that even with a suspension lift of 2" and a body lift of 3", you still cant stick a big tire under there. biggest you can fit, IIRC is a 33" tire, which isn't bad at all, BUT that's like a 10.50 tire, and not a 12.50 or 15.50 or anything like that. so it's gonna be tall and skinny, like the tires on my blazer :/

                            but now i have an s-series car...weird...

The only real problem with lifed s-series is the front end. The IFS really holds you back (I offroad a jeep and a friend of mine has the ZR2, constantly pulling him out, or waiting on him ). BUT. You dont have the 4x4 which is a blessing in disguise. The front diff/axles are NOT meant to offroad, snow/gravel a grass field, sure... but not real offroading.

Something that should make you happy though, nearly everytime we went out he detonated an axle or the diff itself. He still managed to keep up in 2wd with an open rear diff. so yea, if you do an air locker or an LSD you should do pretty well with light offroading, maybe even some technical trails.

I heartily recommend lifting the bronco next to the GMC and putting some 35"s on there. Then you could really go to town. Keep the sonoma stock and enjoy the gas mileage. (Comparatively speaking.)
