I would go buy a replacement mechanical fuel pump and run a rubber hose from it into a 5 gallon gas can just to see where your at.

You can run an electric in line like you said but you will need a fuel pressure regulator or you will blow the diaphragms out of the carb. I'm thinking a new mechanical fuel pump like the one it has on it now is the quickest and cheapest way. Have you tried priming it? Will it run on gas dumped in the carb?

Runs fine on gas poured in.. Sounds amazing for the half second it runs. I run a hose from the mechanical pump but still no fuel to the carb.. Gonna take the hose off the side of the pump going to the carb turn it over and see if it does anything... otherwise il go get a replacement pump.

Me and the dude that gave me the truck put a replacement pump on it when it ran 7 years ago... but it never ran after that.. maybe the pumps arm isnt long enough..

If it's not pumping fuel from the mechanical fuel pump up to the carb (you will know when you take the hose off the fuel pump going to the carb and attempt to start it) then there is an issue with the pump it's self.

If you compared the pump you took off long ago with the one you put on and the arm was not the same then that would be an issue.

From what I can tell most pumps are $25. Autozone has a Delphi. If you have an Autozone near you that would be a great pump.

Went and got a new pump.. put it on.. gets fuel now and will idle fine but gas shoots out the overflows.. and its got a blown exhaust manifold.. Sounds AMAZING lol

Im assuming theres something wrong with the float or the needle...

That's awesome man! She runs! A 460 sounds great with open headers. I put purple hornies turn down style header mufflers on mine, $100 for the pair. Sounded awesome!

When it sat it had fuel in the carb so it likely has stuck needles. So glad to see you making such progress! Keep the pics coming as you do this!

Huh. So they never stop filling up? They just keep pouring fuel?

You said it's an Edelbrock double pumper, I have never heard of nor seen one but as it could be 30 years old it would not surprise me to see one.

If it's like a Holley double pumper then you can remove the float bowels on the sides. But honestly, I would remove the carb, buy a carb rebuild kit for it and clean it with some carb cleaner really well. I use Berryman's Chem-dip. Then rebuild and re-install. It's got to be so full of junk it's not even funny after sitting with fuel in it that went bad 6 3/4 years ago. Plus hard diagrams and o-rings...

Edelbrocks all have a four digit number somewhere like 1406, 1407, 1405, 1826 and so on. Yours may be super old but I'd bet it still has that code. Normally on the very front in the middle down by the base. You just match that number up with a kit on the net. And rebuild kits for Edelbrocks are cheap and Edelbrocks are way easier to rebuild than Holley's. So don't be afraid of it. If your ever going to get it running right, your going to have to go through that carb.

I talked to my uncle.. he said it might just need to be adjusted.. said i gotta bend a tab the needles ride on..

That's how your supposed to adjust the float drop on an Edelbrock. Kinda odd when you think about it. I hope it works! Sure worth a try.
