that generation gp is known for intake gaskets and engine fires most of the ones i see in the j/y around here have had engine fires.
my buddy has a biuck riviera and his car does runs 13.5
with the slips to prove it in a car that is bigger than a gp, but it did cost him a lot to get it there and has gone threw a number of trannies. def invest in a trans oil cooler.
but as they say to each his own. good luck with the new project

The prblem your having brian is your arguing back which is bringing on the dissing and comments and vulgarities. Just ignore it.
As far as the reliabilty issue is concerned, Like I stated I am an avid pontiac enthusiast, but GM cars are FAR from reliable. Japans auto engineers technology is 10+ years ahead of the US. Do you see Honda on the bailouts from the govt (being that some are built here ) NO!!! Do you see toyota or nissan or any of them going broke??? NO!!!! They have better more skilled engineers and the domestic market will NEVER catch them.
Guys/gals just leave him a lone. He picked to get into another car and nobodies dissing it because it is not a honda and it has been pointed out a few times within this thread. We are ALL open minded just try to look out for others making mistakes in judgement!
Good luck with it and keep us posted on the mods (if any)"you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

I have a 02 GP and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. For the moment its more reliable than my 19 year old CB. But the CB is older and in the big scope of things will always be more reliable and last longer than the GP. For the moment the GP just cleans up nice. Its all in maintenance and how you treat your vehicles.

And what fun is it to build a car, and then NOT beat the piss out of it? I beat the piss out of my cars, and they last cause they're built well. GM isn't on the top of the list for reliable motors.
300whp wouldn't be a waste of money, but it could be better applied in a vehicle other than that one. Just my opinion.
i think these are pretty cool with the front end down low on slicks!Last edited by J-specCb4; 02-27-2009, 02:47 PM.

I absolutely love this car.
drives very smooth.
what does everyone think?
However, If I had it, I'd push it off a cliff, report it stolen, and buy somthing better.... like, oh, I dunno, a 1987 Maxima with 400,000 miles on it.
The world doesn't end with Honda, REAL car people can appreciate the pro's and the cons of every car.
On the serious....
Im glad you like it. As a cheap and dirty DD, they work alright.
As long as its what you want, fuck everyone elses opinion.Last edited by AstroVannin; 02-27-2009, 05:45 PM.

So if we bash the car we will be banned later instead of right away?....
j/k...
Personally I think they are decent engines but I find myself alone in that quite often. Its too bad these cars didn't come with 5 speeds. I'm thinking a good set of baller 19"s and H.I.Ds will set it off a lil...maybe some green halogens?

i was driving my buddys eclipse today and then got into my grand prix and i miss 5 Speed so much. Ive hated auto from the day i started driving my first five speed car which was my CB. I wish my grand prix had five speed. You can swap a six speed into em but its pricey and a pain in the ass.
