My dads CD5 starts up like nothing and then when he gives it some gas it acclerates nicely but the RPM gauge jumps around.

Does anyone know what this could be?

Check the blue wire from the dizzy/igniter to the instrument cluster.

Could be faulty Oxygen sensor.

check the connection inside the dizzy (blue wire) foamypirate <<< he is right also

well my dad went ahead and changed the dizzy with another one he had. and it cept on doing the same thing. any other clues what this might be?
