Possible MR2 on the way...

Hello everyone, so I have my eyes on an sw20 (second gen toyota mr2). Its a 91 turbo with low kilometers on it and it seems to be in great damn condition. Its fully loaded and has a nice black leather interior. Unfortunately it is a hardtop; I like the targa top but i guess the hardtop might be better cuz of a slightly stiffer frame. A bonus i guess is that the hardtops are the most rare of the sw20's. I've been checking out some forums and seeing that these cars have some real potential and can easily get up to about 275-300whp, with very minor mods. Also IMO, a mid engine, RWD car is pretty damn nice and must be very well balanced. So my question is, has anyone had any experince with this car that you would like to share. I am hopefully going to get this car, and would just like a little insight if anyone has ever owned one, driven one or worked on one. I love my cb7 and I would still be definately keeping it and driving it often. But alot of my friends are now booting around in supra's, skylines and fc's, so I want a nice classic japanese turbo car to boot around in with them, on the nice summer days. Please any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Red 90 Hardtops or whatever are the rarest mr2 as I recall. Something like that. I just remember rare and somewhere in the 90s. Someone was explaining it on a local forum since he picked one up.

Very nice, yes this one also has only about 60-70k on it. I also love red, but this one is not.

actully a 95 hartop is the rarest there is like 10 of them left in the states. hell 95's in general are RARE

I've got a blue '91 MR2 Turbo.

They are cramped to work on, but not much worse than a CB7. As with every car, if you ditch the stock airbox for an aftermarket filter, you'll open up a lot of room.

My MR2 is an insanely fun car to drive. At just over stock performance levels (intake and boost controller @14psi) it is worlds different than my Accord.

Right now, I'm finishing up putting on a new intercooler, bigger turbo and 3" exhaust. It should be ready to drive by Tuesday and I can't wait to get back in it.

I love CB7s but there is no comparison between it and a MR2 if you like sporty driving.

It will also be hard to go back to front wheel drive and front engine placement.
