....1j is ok I guess, I'm just turned off how everybody think you have to have a 1j/2j to have a fast car

What he means is that "go with a 1j" is too typical a response. Kinda like 240sx sr20det, Cb7 H22, RWD GM 350.. He wants to be a lil different even though the only 3 mk IIIs iIve seen are all 7M and running hard.

yep lolz...I personally like the Exhaust note of a JZ series vs a M series...
but the M series notes is not without its merits...

I just dont see why the fuck people DONT GET IT.

All the mk3's I have seen are 1J, not swapped cars. Sorry, US of A got fucked in the ass with the 7m. A lot of people will agree with me. You dont have to.

At the end of the day, my Toyota doesnt have a 7m. So everything is just fine.

              Sorry if I did.
Any ways, where are you going to get a 3.93 rear end clueless?
I believe the proper axle ratios for MKIII' are as follows:
              Non Turbo LSD: 4:10
              Turbo LSD: 3:91.....
I could be wrong, I'll check the vin coder later...I'm tired right now...
Also, lil, why dont you like the 7M?
I personally LOVE the entire M series of motors myself...
The 7M has no weak links if setup properly.
I only got on the 1J train, because I like the clean JZ exhaust and
since owning Hondas, am now a fan of High revs....
But Saying there are weak links in a properly set up 7M? nope.
              Duane Stephens....Ownz joo...

Properly set up 7M? Would you care to tell us what pertains to a "properly" set up 7M? it obviously consists of a LOT OF WORK.

Michael Tinidad. a SoCal mk3 celebrity in my book, has a BEAUTIFUL, i mean GORGEOUS 90 Targa. Gunmetal with black SSR Professors. Had a BUILT 7M. We're talking balanced, eagle pistons, crower rods COMPLETE tear down and rebuild done PROPER by driftmotion (if you own an mk3 YOU KNOW who Aaron is) cost him close to 12K, made god know how much power.

overheated and threw a rod. Ended up getting a 1J.

REGARDLESS of WHAT is done to the motor, the 7M has a bad design PERIOD. The water jacket design, the cooling passages. its all old, and for the motor it wants to be, obsolete. Toyota has kept the same block design for how many generations? Seven? The 7M was a bitchin' motor 20 years before it was produced, when turbo cars were only built to make 80 hp pushing 1.3 pounds of boost.

I was HARDCORE 7M. Even when i blew my first. I was like "oh, it had like 200K on it. I'll get a JDM 7M with like 30K"

I got the JDM motor, paperwork, cressida clip, tags VERIFYING it had 70K Kilom. on it. Which is about 40K mi. What happens right before its ready for its first oil change? It over heats, and three days later, fucking rod knock.

The fact that you've owned eleventeen MK3s dosent justify your superiority over me in my mind what so ever. You're 22 with how many MK3s? Im 18 with an old mk3 i got rid of after the second motor, and a 350z. Not that the fact matters, or that it means anything, but it just shows, i was tired of the old car bullshit after i realized it wasnt easy. When I come back to the mk3, its going to be only ONE. I will own ONLY ONE in my life from here on out. and it will NOT have a 7M, because I know how much problems that thing has caused me and more than half of the 7M owners world wide.

Yes, im butt hurt, because i miss that car VERY much. I just cant take care of it properly untill i start a career and can give it the attention, detail and HARD WORK it needs.

You know what I saw going to work today? a +89 MK3, primered BLOW ITS MOTOR after advancing from a red light. Light turned green, CLUNK. i watched the guy and his friend PUSH the car out of the intersection, and the FIRST thing taht came to my mind as all of this was unfolding infront of me was "Aw, 7M woes!"

I know you're not trying to be a jerk, but I feel like I have to defend myself and my opinions on this subject, because that car was the ONLY thing in my life for the longest time. It was the ONE thing I worked so hard for.

I dont care. No one does. this thread is about MKIII Turbo Supras.
                You dont own one.
So go play with your 350z somewhere.
Yeah just what the world needs another irresponsible 18 year old with a fucking 30,000$$ sports car. Get over yourself, or go play in traffic.
Why are you even here? Do you or have you ever owned an Accord?
I made a simple comment and you got all defensive. simple as that.
Now you have pissed me off with your immature comments etc.
I'll give you the b0D right now, becuase u r 18 and YDaFOC....
So have fun driving your 350z.
edit: Being "Hardcore 7M" does not include blowing up two NA motors.
                Back on topic now.

LOL... I LOVE the Jz seires... like LOVE them...But on all but one of my cars, I was able to afford a JZ swap, so therefore, I like the M series due to the simple fact that I could afford it...lol....
It seems to me though, that with a few tweaks the M can be just as good.
BUT the owner has to be willing to do the tweaks tinkering etc. I did some of them, ALOT of freaking work..Not even really worth it in the end I suppose...
Duane Stephens car represents a PROPERLY set up 7M....
KWnates car represents a PROPERLY set up 7M. http://youtube.com/watch?v=36iGtg7o-WY
BUT, JZ gives more power/efficiency per mod imho, so the higher initial cost is worth it.....Dont tell that to Duane however lol.
On a side note, I dont see how it is about "not getting it"
Because the M is a good series of motors... there are just several flawed areas.
I daily drove an Auto 89T that got decent gas mileage, and made over 400hp.
BUT I became complacent in the maintenance and she threw a rod.

Completely my fault too, I didnt check the oil before a long trip...
Anyways though, Clueless sounds like he is going for a reliable mid power
setup. So for what he is talking about, a 7M will be just fine.

Yes....Bigger TB, Map sensor...Much better engine...Headgasket was torqued correctly...
Impossible to find one of those motors I would say. where as a 1Jz you can pick up one from most any importer...and they were available in DOZENS of cars too...1500 for a clean one..whereas the 7M is something like 750 and 2JZ I believe my friend paid around
3k for his. but he got a whole Aristo front clip....I'm not knocking the 1JZ or anything, it is just that I like the M series. 5M 2M and 7M....
The JZ series is just too good though. But for the money, and
having a reliable DD a good ol 7MGTE with HK$ headgasket can be beat. on.

Wow...never thought i'd see a heated discussion over supras on CB7Tuner. All good and well though.

The US did get screwed on the MKIII, however they made up with it on the MKIV... The JDM 2JZ has smaller turbos than the standard CT26's and smaller cams and actually equates out to nearly 40 hp less the US Spec MKIV's.

I like seeing MKIII projects, and best of luck to you on yours man, they can be some beautiful cars if treated properly...

And I do remember hearing someone say supraforums was full of supra idiots??

If you want the best hookup on parts for all serious toyota parts and service shops (stock and aftermarket) nationwide (MVP Motorsports, Speedforsale, SP, Titan, WOTM, Elmhurst Toyota), you go to supraforums. There might not be the biggest MKIII scene on there, but the guys that are on there take this stuff very seriously. Some make it their careers so that website is a direct link to more business. I can tell you that Curt Aigner at Elmhurst probably has the biggest inventory of stock supra parts (MKIII's and up) in the US and is on supraforums average 6 times a day. I'm not saying anything against supramania, but i've met and talked with hundreds of guys on supraforums at different meets and business transactions, and i can tell you that most people have a very sound knowledge of their cars, MKIII and MKIV. (You'll always find one or two idiots mixed in a crowd, but the world ain't perfect.)

                          Just my .02

P.S.- The 2JZ is capable safely of 700-800whp on stock block, any more than that and its just counting the days down until it blows. Max reported HP produced on a "stock" engine was 1017 whp by a tuner on Supraforums trying to blow the engine and see what he could get maxed...RRev Motorsports got 1170whp out of the stock "block" but had to modify water passages in order to achieve that.

I dont consider blowing up 7Ms being hardcore 7m. When i say hardcore 7m, its me implying that I wanted no other motor than a 7m. I wanted to build a 400hp 7mgte and leave it alone. But thats NOT possible without lots of headaches and YOU know that. ANY MK3 owner knows that.

I'm immature? Possibly, and frankly, I don't give a rat's ass. I'm going to treat this topic as such, as stubborn as I possibly can be, because I devoted more than half of my teen aged life to this car.

You're absolutely right. I DON'T own a Mark Three. But I DID, and I KNOW these cars. I'm no master mechanic, but I have a passion for the mk3.

And you know what, Im in class right now, and I think after school, i AM going to go play with my 350Z. I'm going to go do a pull all the way to redline, and not worry about it overheating, then spewing its connecting rod.

For the sake of my good friends thread, I'm now going to ignore you. The last thing I want is for it to be locked. So say all the shit you want. Nothing you say will diminish my four years of credibility on this site to any one.

Not like that matters in any case.

Whatever. I am not upset. YOU are. So chill. U aren't even reading my posts.
U obviously have your own opinions....
I don't want this thread locked either. Which is why I will ask u again to drop it.
because if you read my posts, then you can see I'm essentially agreeing with you.

Although I dont know how you KNOW these cars better than me, as someone who has been surrounded by Toyotas his entire life, I suppose I will just sit here and bow to your infinite wisdom about the 7M motor. good for you dude.

I drove a 400hp MK3 with a 7MGTE. Everyday. No headaches. I didn't drive it like a crazy person though. and it blew up when I decided it would be a good idea to drive from my house in Seattle to Eastern WA, without adding oil....
Turbo Cars use oil. Period. In the United States, people (for the most part)
will not really care about their 7m Because if they blow it up well, It's JZ time anyway lol....I get that. But if we have this discussion over on Supramania, there are more M series advocates available to me.

So I really dont care about the opinion of someone who owned a MKIII as a young kid, then sold it...
Big fucking deal dude. Honestly, If I wanted the opinion of a high schooler I
would walk to my local high school.
not trying to insult you, I just think you are incapable of seeing another persons point of view. That is becuase you are young. It's fine that you cant,
but going through and discussing things like this is getting old. I'll not defend the M series in this forum anymore if thats what you want.
I can keep my opinions to myself.
also dont talk about ignoring me, when you are the one who started by taking my comment and ramming it up your ass
                              Thanks.
