difference between 1j and 2j is pretty much displacement and maybe turbo setup. No, a buddy of mine is too cheap to rebuild...my motor has ross forged pistons, shot peened forged rods, bored .020 over, HKS MHG, replaced bearings, new greddy timing belt, upgraded high presure oil pump, rebuilt head, all new gaskets and seals through-out motor. Those with 600hp on stock internals were turbo internals, as far as differences between turboed and NA depends who you talk too. I play it safe and either shot peen the stock internals, get forged, or combination of the two. Based on my research, the week link on the 7m's are the rods and most respectable supra tuners will say 400hp is the safe limit for stock rods(not that can't handle more, but for reliability reasons). Depending how things go with this motor, I make make it a stepping motor and use my spare motor as a full all-out forged badass 7m.
I dont care. I've done more to my car when I first got it at 15 than most have done with their entire ownership of the car.
I pride myself on my old MK3. As the biggest piece of shit car that was, for my age and resources, I am DAMN proud of that thing.

I believe the proper axle ratios for MKIII' are as follows:
Non Turbo LSD: 4:10
Turbo LSD: 3:91.....
I could be wrong, I'll check the vin coder later...I'm tired right now...

I personally LOVE the entire M series of motors myself...
The 7M has no weak links if setup properly.
I only got on the 1J train, because I like the clean JZ exhaust and
since owning Hondas, am now a fan of High revs....
But Saying there are weak links in a properly set up 7M? nope.

Turbo had two 3.91 and 3.73. I forgot which goes with which year. There is a different type from 86-88 and a diff one from 89-92 when they changed bodystyles slightly.

NA has three actually....you got 4.30 LSD, 4.30 Non-LSD, and 4.10 LSD.

I checked my old 89's Vin and it only had the 3.91, I know why I got fisted by my friends

yea, shit happens. I prefer turbo myself, but consider giving my T100 a beasty NA upgrade from it's 2.7 liter 4 cylinder.
