    Nissan --> Toyota Swaps.

Is it me, or has the popularity of this went wayyyy up in the past year. I havent researched any of this stuff recently becasue I was concentrated in my Accord. But recently ive been slightly looking things up on this, and I am seeing a bunch of jz swapped 240s.

I remember a while back, it seemed there was just talk of these swaps, and i thought i would have to custom fab everything, but now there are many different kits for this swap. .

Did something happen the caused and increase of these swaps or was it just a bunch of curiosity turned into action?

A DVD on how to swap a 2JZ in to an S14.

I haven't heard too much about it, but then again I also haven't really looked in to it. I'm too much of a skyline fanboy anyways to really care.

because both the Skyline and the Supra have an inline 6. both are the same size i do believe you can swap either one into the S14

There is a pretty good reason for the whole Toyota motor into Nissan chassis thing. Nissan makes a good chassis, light ones. Toyota makes a better chassis, but they are quite heavy. Nissan makes good motors, virtually all of which are over priced. Toyota makes good motors, which are fairly priced.

You have to build an SR or RB20/25 to get the motor to the level of a 1j, nevertheless a 2j. The SR and RB series are brilliant motors, but they share the same wonderful trait that seems to curse many Hondas. Not much down low, a lot up top. The JZ motors have a V8-like powerband thanks to the brilliant head design and well matched bottom end. Lots of torque, lots of horsepower, at all RPMs. Even the RB26 cant achieve that.

Now I'm not saying the RB motors are a bad choice for a swap. If it isnt an RB20, it wont be cheap. What you could do is piece together a motor, IE; use the head from an NA rb25, and the rb30 bottom end, rebuild both halves and stick em together. The end result is a pretty tourquey buttery smooth motor. You can keep the costs pretty low if you frank an RB, and get good results. You just REALLY have to know what your doing. RB's arent exactly idiot proof.

Now, the S14 is a bloody awesome chassis. Its fairly light, stiff, and has an assload of aftermarket support. Nissan basically took the R32 Skyline and changed the body and interior. The cost of an S14 is also pretty fair. So it just makes for a good platform.

So you go buy an S14. Instead of spending that 6 grand on a healthy RB26, you go and buy a healthy 1J for 1600 or so, a tranny for 700, you still have money left for a clutch, 1J conversion kit, a powerFC, and enough beer and cheese-its to last you the time of the swap. With the ten grand it would cost to have an SR built and a big turbo strapped on, you could pretty much have the car finished.

I can only imagine what that would be like in a s14.

Yeah, it's been featured in all the import tuner magazines I think.
This is up there with the RB in a mustang in terms of blasphomey.
                    Still really cool though.

And that formula = lag The only place you might be able to run right is the highway. As for DD thats another story. Anyway its a cheaper option as mentioned and its different just like the LSx swaps that have been gettin popular recently.

It doesnt really equal lag. On a stock motor YES. But if you build the motor, lets say to rev to 9g, boost will pour on at 4500 and youll make like 500+ wheel on like .6 bar. If you tune the motor to make as much power as it can before boost hits, youll still make 200+whp. If you really dont want lag, get nitrous. And besides all that, the t88 is a dinosaur and definitely isnt as efficient as a lot of newer designs. A to4R would be mad if spec'd properly.

The t88 is kind of old...But it doesnt stop Drag teams from using it....
But the GT Garrett series of turbos are great on 2jz's. I dont personally
like the sound of an RB26 very much.

Okay I love the T04 Series as well..
My personal favorite being the T04Z.
