    Japanese equivalents?

I'm curious... I know all the snobby letter/number cars over here actually have names in Japan. Does anyone know what they are?

For example, the luxury lines seem to be doing this the most...

    Acura, Infiniti, Lexus...

The only one's I know of besides the Aristo and the like are Hondas.

If something is a sedan...nope...it's a Ferio. Like a Civic sedan is a "Civic Ferio".

Same with coupes. If it's a 2 door...yep...it's called a coupe. But not just that it's also in the name. Like with out CB7's it's "Accord Coupe".

              The CRX is a "CR-X".

The del-Sol is a complete convertable...not just a targa top.

              That's all...

              + '93 Accord EX - CB7 - Frost White w/ Dark Blue = teh s0ld (ilikebigbutts)

              2006 Cobalt SS - 2004 Monte Carlo SS - 1990 CRX Si

Yeah, actually... I just read in Super Street that it's the Gloria...

Hmmm... that conflicts with my online findings

I heard that the Japanese just like names instead of Numbers...at least that's what I've heard. There aren't too many Japanese vehicles that actually have # instead of names. Off the top of my head...I can only think of a couple including the Nissan 180SX.

I'm sure there are many others, however they come up with some crazy names...one of my personal favourites...the "cappuccino"...it was a little roadster.

                      i moved to kentucky....DNB doesn't mean drum 'n' bluegrass...

Yeah, I've heard of the Cappucino... I think it might actually be in a Gran Turismo game perhaps. I wonder if the Italian reference is to stress the concept of a small roadster (similar to many Itialian designs...)

I LOVE how the Japanese makes have real names instead of numbers. I don't understand what the American fascination with numbers is! Why does something have to be names CTP558 for it to be luxurious? I like and understand the numbers when they represent the engine size, but the letters are worthless to me. What the hell is a TL? What does it mean?

On a side note regarding the letter names... The Chrysler LHS actually had some meaning behind the letters. I'm not sure if it was actually named LHS because of this, or if this came from the name, but here it is: LHS stood for "Last Hope Sedan". Chrysler was doing well with minivans, but the big sedans were becoming a thing of the past. They hoped the LHS would be the savior... It kinda sucked as a car, but I guess it worked!

                          I can understand numbers being confusing...we're humans...not computers...hahahah...

We know everything by name...I can't think of a time where I would see a car that was a series of numbers...and remember it like it was a name...kinda like remember a lisense plate!

However, I know that I'll remember a name of a car....

I remember when the Lexus GS and ES series just came out...i could never remember those numbers...it got really confusing...I could only explain to people what the car looked like.

I still get the GS and ES confused! I can look at one and say "that's a Lexus" but that's about it. I never cared much for Lexus anyway, so I never bothered to recognize em.

Oddly enough, I sometimes have trouble distinguishing the older Acuras... CL and TL mainly. The RL (Legend through the "good" years... the last Legend was my favorite) is pretty recognizable.

awww man! I love the toyota soarer and the toyota aristo...(the models above)

with the jdm versions available with the 2jz?? the same supra twin? Yikes...

I never had the money ...but i always considered buying a SC300/400 or the GS300 and doing an engine swap
