over here in cali even when a car is stripped bare bone the car is considered salvage.

even if they broke in and stole something it can be considered salvaged ..

true, salvage by definition means to make good and reuse

      from wikidictionary
anything that has been put to good use that would otherwise have been wasted

I don't want what they already have. ALTHOUGH I do almost all the mech work on them and they are great to work on (at least compared to cb's)

I've just got my mind set on a rex, and considering the kind of mileage my brother and sister get.....well, a consistent 24 mpg in my cb is good, but going on joy rides is getting more and more expensive...if I could joyride in a rex I could save a little money. It would be smarter for me to sell my 93 cb too and just drive 1 car, but I can't let go of cb's. I know how much I'd regret it.

My sis's civic has the non vtec y7 I believe, it's got the vertical TB with no plenum, very basic

My bro's civic has the econo vtec Y8, full plenum, etc. A little more crowded engine bay, but still nothing like the CB

Yes, the vertical IM on mine was replaced with a regular D16Z6 IM and an integra TB. It was a little screamer. The car damn near ran a 14 with a header.

I don't have pics yet, but I can't keep the news to myself anymore...

I now own a CRX Si

I've been busy all day, every day between work and previous engagements since I got it on Friday. Too busy to get it road worthy, but today I got to spend some time with it before I had to go to work.

Black with a black interior. 2door hatch with no back seat, just a shelf there.

It runs. Has no muffler. Engine looks good for its age. The interior is average for its age, it has a very strong stagnant + previous owner smell.

You know how used cars always have that "previous owner" smell? It's strong in this one...gotta do a full carpet cleaning sometime.

Hatch struts are blown, and the hatch is pretty heavy, so it makes searching the trunk difficult. The car was in an accident, thats why it's salvage. Its crunchy on the back left corner, bumper is detached from the left side. Back left corner light is smashed, but the bulbs are still there. The front left fender has a good dent too, but its only superficial there.

Under the hood I noticed when leaning on the snorkel (it has an air intake tube extending over the radiator to take in air) there is a crack in the radiator. While the car was running I put some weight on the snorkel, which is attached in 2 places to the radiator, is exposed a crack which spit a little air and coolant at me. Only a few drops worth, but I can't tell if the radiator is compromised and won't be able to function under pressure. It may need to be replaced. For now I used some plastic epoxy over the crack area.

It will be hard to tell what is broke or not until I can actually drive it.

I plan for this to be my more economical beater/DD. It's not royalty like my CB. So while the CB gets nice parts, meticulous service, and spoiled attention, the rex gets cheap/free solutions to its problems. So anything I run into better have a free solution or a cheap one.

I have an old muffler thats been sitting in my back yard for like 2 years or more. I'm thinking of throwing that on, but its a ricey sort of muffler. If its loud, its gonna have to go. I get the feeling people are gonna be revving on me once they see the car, and I don't want any added attention. I'm also somewhat worried about the theft rate of rex's.

Autozone wants like 8 bucks for a rubber exhaust hanger so I'm using a wire coat hanger to hold the muffler up. There was a u-clip where the old exhaust was, but it won't fit around the mufflers diameter...might have to buy one.

So far I can only attest that 1st, 2nd and reverse work, but the shifter doesn't feel wonky so I'm not too worried about that. Clutch grabs very soon so I don't think thats worn out.

I may rattle can the car later, trying to decide if I think its worth the money and effort.

I'll get pics when I can!

It's really not in bad condition, maybe I'm talking too much trash about it
