The 1st gen TL had the motor and exterior cues from the Ascot/rafaga.
That is why the Ascot/Rafaga's equivalent in the US was the 1st gen TL.
Although some people call the 1st gen TL's Inspires
2nd Gen TL's in the US was the Honda Sabre/Inspire in Japan.

ahh
i see the similarities. but i do think they are different.
i mean, the TL IS a much larger car compared to the Ascot/Rafaga.
they do share the same longitudinal engine orientation, making the car look as if its RWD.
