They have them for airplanes now too. They are integrated into the seatbelt, and look like one of those seatbelt pads. They inflate when acceleration forces (or deceleration forces for that matter, reach 9 g's), and they basically extend upward from your lap belt towards the roof, to cover your body as you hit the control yoke and panel.

hahaha Yeah, I should've guessed. Honda's air bag probably protects Honda's engineering masterpiece by ensuring the bike's safety while the rider goes flying to kingdom come.

Airbags on an airplane sounds pretty cool. I should try and retrofit those to a Cessna 172.

I wonder if the ABS is for the rear tire only? How am I going to back into corners like Rossi or Haga if I can't lock up the rear?!

Actually ABS is a good thing to have. That is if it works well. If the brakes lock up you can loose control of the car/bike. It also increses stopping distances when the wheels lock up.

Ours are on Cessna 172's... And unfortunately, you can't just retrofit stuff. Lots of paperwork involved in stuff like that. But basically, they have the charge unit mounted in a canister that is mounted to the bottom of the seat, and then a tube runs up the seatbelt to the lap bag.

One integral component though is the seat. When Cessna put the 172, 182, and 206 back into production, one of the changes were high back seats capable of sustaining much greater impact forces than the old seats. I think the new ones are rated a 16G's. The old ones were crap, so there is no guarantee it would work anyway.

As far as ABS goes, it is proven to shorten stopping distances, but I have no idea how it works on bikes.

Not only is the power to weight ratio insane, but nothing can come close to that sensation of speed other than airplanes. You are out in the open, riding a gas tank with 2 tires, and it well, it just rocks.

After riding on a modded CBR600RRF3, I haven't found a car yet that makes my nuts retract the same way.

Honda just recently announced their first motorcycle airbag. They have made it work. I don't know how, and I don't know if it is on the market just yet, but it will be soon.

That's probably the one I was thinking of.
