    Drove an 07 M5

I work at a BMW dealership and was happy when I was handed the keys to an M5 For the sheer luxury and handling it has for such a big car it was worth it! Not to mention the 500+ hp...But I dont find it very fun when your in traffic and all you want to do is step hard on the gas pedal...but it pulls really really nice! I'd get one if I had $90,000 lying around

    SOLD!!

if it was manual, im pretty sure that they came with a 7 speed gear box.

anyways, sounds fun to me! i wish i worked at a car lot (or anywhere period) so i could drive nice cars around once in a while. the closest thing to that ive driven is my dads 04 maxima. not that close.

2004 M5 and up they swapped to the SMG trans. And he drove a new bodystyle the E60 not the E39 which is the one your thinkin about. I love it I drove one too!!! Way out of my price range. It doesnt like the fastest shift setting in the lower rpm though kinda jolty but other than that it is a great car to drive and it pulls like a motha focka!

It was a 6spd manual and yeah traction control has to be off for any sort of fun to happen. I did get to drive it hard enough to enjoy the power that those cars have, didnt make onto the highway though

SMG's are hydraulically operated manuals, otherwise known as paddleshift automatics.

The purely manual M Series is still 6 speed.

I am lost lol. I thought the E60 was where the manual stopped and everyone went to SMG (you have the option of using paddles or the gear lever). Technically it does behave like a manual but I have never seen an actual manual E60 unless I am missing something. Most I have seen are all SMG The only true manual M5 I remember was the E39 with the six speed gearbox.
