$425 1974 Super Beetle

it doesnt get much more German than this: a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle. It was pulled out of a barn last week that it had been sitting in since 1989. Roughly 110k on it.

Good news: no major rust, just surface.

Bad news: obliterated piston, cylinder, and corresponding head.

Don't waste your time on a 914 engine. For the money you'll spend on it to make it so-so fast, you can easily do an EJ20 and make it REALLY fast
