Yeah, good Subarus don't run cheap... I found a few local WRXs that looked good at first glance, but seemed really shady after further inspection (autos labeled as manuals, 150k miles, remnants of mods...)

I think my budget may be a bit low for a good Subaru, and I just don't want one I can afford!

The CL-S is probably at the top of my list. Grand Prix GTP is probably next. Mileage is close on the two.

Here's a hint, depreciation on a Legacy is MUCH higher than a WRX. I think on mine, I'm down about 10k from MSRP in a little less than 2 years. That's pretty rough IMHO.

I donno if anyone has thought of this already...but a Mazda Millenia S...those cars are very low key and very always overlooked....they have good handling dynamics, good engine, and don't look half bad...

217 hp (162 kW) and 210 ft.lbf. from a 2.3L Supercharged Miller Cycle motor. The engine was called the KJ-ZEM and was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list from 1995 through 1998. - Wikipedia

For the Maxima what year are you looking at?

I know it doesn't meet all your criterias but have you considered a Corolla XRS as well as a Celica GT-S?

The CL looks like a Honda Monte Carlo.

            I'd get a TL-S...

                    I'm looking for 2000+
I honestly am not a fan of Toyota! The last car they made that I gave a damn about was the MR2 (not the spyder POS, but the last turbo model). The Supra impresses me about as much as a Mustang GT, the Corolla strikes me as being more bland and cheap than a Civic, and the Celica... well... just sucks. Toyota was the shit in the 80s. In the 90s, they just seemed to drop everything that was worthwhile. They're less performance oriented than Ford at the moment, from what I see.

The Lincoln LS would be kinda sweet, but I think the gas mileage may be pretty bad, even for the V6. Sadly there are no 5 speeds availible near me (a 5 speed Lincoln would be hot! I don't think they've had a manual transmission for years!)

Right now, CLS and GTP are probably my top choices. Both are hot cars. Both get about the same mileage. Both have similar power (getting the GTP over the CL-S's output would be pretty cheap.) I'll have to test drive both and see which I like!

Deev, you can't discount the MR2 Spyder. Just because we got a watered down version doesn't mean its not a performance car.

Oh yeah, I know it's not bad... but the car they gave us is pretty pathetic. You can't come off of a 250hp turbocharged BEAUTIFUL MR sportscar and expect people to fall in love with a wimpy NA convertible. It's nothing but a midlife crisis car now. I'd LOVE the older model, but they're too old to meet my needs right not. If I want a zippy handling-monster of a roadster, I'll pay less for a Miata. If I want a powerhouse NA 4 cyl roadster, I'll get an S2000. The MR2 Spyder is sub-bar in light of the competition or the predecessor.

350 in a Chevette would be SOOOO much better.

They are RWD stock, and I think it is a fairly straight foward affair.

You will be perfectly happy with a TL-S or CL-S I am sure.

I agree with ya buddy in the style part but the car has no resale value plus the motor often breaks down..
