Well I went to my girlfriends moms place today which is about 2 hours away from my place and in the laneway theres a 4 dr 96 Golf CL which has been sitting here since the last time i came which was in the spring. BTW I`m on French computer right now so I dont know where all the buttons are because everthing is different. Anyway were all talking and her mom says that shes selling the house. So I just asked what are you going to do with the VW. And out of nowhere she asks me if I wanted it! I was taken aback, I didnt know what to say, but she insisted that i take it, she actually said give me one dollar and it`s yours!! And then she handed me the keys. So now have a red VW Golf with 123,000 KM on it, the body has a little rust, but not much and she said she just replaced the timing belt and water pump. Now as some of you know I`m might be selling my CB and now I have the VW. So I have few things in mind like selling the CB and building up the VW to race at the drags and also use it as my summer car. I dont know much about VW and I dont know how much potential the Golf has, but I`m soon gonna find out! Anyway it was a very unexpected and very nice X-mas gift. Anyone here have any info on the Golf

oh boy a 96....

get ready for electrical demons, doors that wont open, loud-as-hell wheel bearings, and very expensive repair items.

the good is that those 2.0s are very reliable, susp handles good even when stock, lower insurance(my girl went from a 95 passat to a 93 civic lx and her bill went up 30/month for basic coverage), and the ability to swap a 6cyl into a little shoebox = fun.
