My dad drives a 2001 Honda Civic LX Sedan. Like it says in the title it is an AUTO and the shifter is locking up on him. What happens is once he has started the car to warm up in the morning before he leaves for work, when he is ready to head out, the shifter is stuck in park. The steering wheel is not locked. I helped him this morning with it. I turned it off used the shift lock relese to put it in Neutral and started it from there. I have had this same thing happen in the past with my CB and simply looked in the Haynes manual and found the section for that problem with how to take apart the center console and then where and what to spray white lithium grease. So I guess what I am asking here is anyone familiar with taking the center console apart on a 01 Civic? I am pretty sure that I could figure it out but he just wants to hear it come from someone else and he is willing to accept some opinions from you guys. He is afraid that I will break something and he right now is debating whether or not he wants to keep it much longer, not enough head room for him. So let me know if anyone is familiar with this problem on a 01 Civic. Thanks in advance. Later
EDIT: I checked and the Haynes manual for this year of Civic HAS came out, but my dad being a tightwad, doesnt want to spend the money to buy it. I checked with my local libraries and they dont have a copy of the manual yet.
