    2008 Honda/Acura NSX

This addresses the single largest complaint about the original NSX, which has always been its lack of power.Just like the old one, will be a technological window for Honda "This new sports car will be the first of a new generation" concluded the director of Honda, Takeo Fukui.

With the V10 the new NSX will be the most powerful honda ever made. The carmaker is aiming for the top in producing engines. The new Honda/Acura NSX will move upmarket, and will target Aston Martin. 2008 NSX II will offer a 4.5 Liter V10 and a 3.6 V6 , all wheel drive with prices around $100,000.

The mid-engine Honda HSC concept from the 2003 Tokyo show the way toward the next NSX.The use of Honda’s "Super Handling AWD" system is also a possibility.SH-AWD is capable applying a greater percentage of overall torque to the rear wheels in aggressive driving situations.

The SH-AWD technology is fantastic for high performance vehicles. The technology was first used on Acura’s RL model. It worked so well, that they have decided to apply the technology to some of their more high-performance vehicles.Honda plans to raise its global sales by nearly 25 percent over the next three years to four million vehicles a year. Its strategy is based around offering clean, economical models, more hybrids and alternative-fuel vehicles.

The old one Honda ended production of the NSX in 2005, 15 years after the first NSX was built. The last cars were built in September for the European market and December for North America. For most of its life, it was the most expensive Japanese car in many markets.

Those look like old shots of the HSC, which they mention in the article.

We will see what they actually come up with.

According to 1 press release I saw, they were going to tweak the rear of the HSC.

Shortly thereafter I read that they changed format completely.

With the NSX name though, I don't see it being anything other than an MR 2 seater, like the original.

    One can only hope.

I kinda feel the same way..... I think what is going to make and break this ride is how it will handle on the street and the track.....

        Still no VTEC V8

J/k should be interesting...I hope they don't do SH-AWD, what fun is a 4000# NSX? I'm glad they're bringing it back though. Hopefully Mazda will make a 20B RENESIS RX-9 or whatever and it'll be like the early 90s again.

          LOL!

Yeah cuz a VTEC V10 is going to suck compared to a V8. Especially since Honda has already announced at least 500HP from it.

Don't stress glory. The VTEC V8 is on its way. It will debut in one of 3 places.

awd for a supercar or exotic car does it no justice, mid-engine rwd is where its at. look how well the past nsxs did compared to higher priced cars with more power. honda needs to install a v6 or v8 with 350hp and have a low curb weight.

Instant first reaction: Corvette. It'll be interesting to see what it really looks like.

The technology was first used on Acura’s RL model.
I know it said "SH AWD", but they conveniently forgot with which car the SH technology was actually introduced to market.

I didn't like the HSC concept too much, but this I do like, from what I've seen

Does kinda look like a mix of an s2000 and a vette

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

tru...they should make a 2 liter, 15000rpm, 30mm stroke, VTEC screaming V8 monster made out of some exotic ceramic. That'll show Ferrari.

That might only have enough torque to move a tricycle.

Not if it's geared right! 8.00:1 FD = no problem...

                        LOL!

I can assure you that whatever it is, it will be very competitive.

The old NSX was still one of the best all around performing supercars after its 14th year on the market.

Right. Power isn't everything, and now that the NSX has it...

Yea, that vid of an NSX-S vs 2 lamborghinis (Murcielago and Gallardo) and it ends up being 3rd because of some issue, was it overheating?

I don't remember why, but they are very quick stock. With less than 300HP an NSX-R circled the Ring in less than 8 minutes. Obviously, trying to set a lap time, the driver was on it as much as possible, but it is really amazing how fast some cars can get around that track. He had that thing open a vast majority of the time.

The NSX lost favor because it wasn't the newest exotica and because Acura doesn't have the brand mystique of say Ferrari.

How many Ferrari owners actually run those cars hard? Not very many.

You can find NSXs attending track days all of the time. Why? Because you can romp the shit out of them and not have to worry about making it home.

Ferraris and most supercars are great cars anymore, but for most people it is just a phallic symbol of manliness.

To put the performance of the NSX in perspective, the 3.2L will typically turn in a high 12 in the 1/4 and top out somewhere above 170MPH.

With 290HP from an engine that was designed in the 80's.

Now put that in perspective with todays supercars. Most of them run low 12's in the 1/4, and still top out around 170-180 MPH. There are a few such as the Z06 that will run quite a bit quicker than that, but most of them still don't.

Most of them are doing this with somewhere around 500HP.

If you put the NSX on a hard enough handling track, it would still hold its own against most of these cars.

I can't wait to see what the new one will be capable of.

                              Here are my personal predictions.

                              V10 - 500HP

6 speed manual gearbox, perhaps an SMG.

                              3300lbs or less.
