When my dad first got that car, I was thorougly disappointed. It was, to say the least for a 345HP car, a dog. I got to flog it a bit today, a good year after he bought it brand new and I last drove it... ...it's a rocket. 1st gear is OK...2nd gear comes on and you're like "ohhhh shit"...3RD gear comes on and you're giggling and asking if this is possible...by 4th gear you're at 100 and realizing you have to slow down. It still doesn't match the punch of my friend's I/H/E Altima V6, but it's also carrying a good 700# more through a rear diff as well. It rides like ass and swigs gas, and isn't as fun as my CB IMO, but it's still a hoot... I'm a fan now...

I don't think it's 300C fast...but it's definitely a rocket. Actually, on the highway they're probably neck and neck...but at the launch the 300C's torque would PWN. His car ALMOST makes me think all automatics aren't that bad...all that power through a stickshift would definitely be a hassle...

I always kinda liked the 1st gen, mostly because it was funky, and the engine was awesome.
The 2nd gen is just simply badass though. I think the 2nd gen will run neck and neck with a 300C

I know they have the same motor, I was just wondering which your dad's was. The first gen was a motor without a chassis unfortunately.
I am definitely liking the 2nd gen much better. It is especially sexy with the sport package. On paper at least, the 2nd gen is slightly faster than a 300C actually, and is probably much nicer too. I haven't ridden in a new M yet, and the 300C's are nice, but they aren't super "upscale" either.

I'm housesitting my parents' place in LI for the weekend.
Drove it again last night back to back with the CB. 90% of the time the M45 is just a much better car... you can just cruise and not think. It has a fuel economy meter that makes me drive very calmly, and is easy to work with thanks to the torque of the motor. However, while the low speed damping is much better than my car, it gets very choppy over bumps....
For the final 10% though the CB definitely PWNS. I had to run out to get something, and from the moment I turned the car on and the whole thing shook with the energy of the engine I said 'wow this will be something different'. I made my quick run and enjoyed the whole thing, and remembered how much fun my first CB was when I lived out here.
The lesson I learned last night is you have to buy or build a car to serve a realistic purpose. I could own this CB out here. I could probably do without A/C and P/S here if I was just driving to the train station. But out in BK the roads are rougher. I drive longer distances. The CB is just not cutout for the duty of BK driving. Something like the M... ahhh that would be nice. It's a little too big though. I'm thinking either an auto Maxima or 6th gen V6 Accord.
