i signed up 'cause of my friend Jaymi...he's on here. i told him that i'm able to get JDM license plates and he told me he posted on here for me, so i figured i'd sign up and meet some of you. also, i *might* be trying to get a 90-ish accord and putting a fresher motor in to use as the "daily driver that won't break down or catch cops' attentions" i've always been a fan of hondas to some degree, but never had a chance to really have one until recently, and i'm seriously considering it. being originally from the philippines, i grew up around jap cars and i place my trust on jap cars than domestics of equal/similar class. and i like the styling a lot better too, especially early-mid 90s models

i haven't ran the cars in a 1/4 mile track yet, but in a 1000' track the srt has ran 11.35 and the red one has ran 11.81. in the 1/8 mile, the srt has ran 8.9 and the red one has ran 9.3.

srt has 35$ in mods: spring mod (extra 2psi + check engine light), ghetto-filled motor mounts, back-yard special shifter bushings c/o lowe's home improvement
red car has bolt ons: i/h/e, udp, bigger tb, and a good amount of weight redux.
gvr4 is all OEM: only non-original parts are the 2g exhaust mani and o2 housing and 3g lifters. haven't taken this car to the track yet; i'm pretty sure this car won't make it all the way down the track (f*n dsm...haha)

Looks good. It sucks that freakin dodge finally got a car right, and now they are gonna be gone by 2007. Although the new ones are in crashes just as much as wrx's were when they first come out.. young kids testing the limits, find them real quick.

but whats up with the other neons air filter? Can you take off the end and then substitute as the street sweeper?

the SRT-4 will probly last a bit longer after the neon is gone. Dodge has been quoted saying that the SRT-4 is NOT a neon. so only time will tell.

I've been told the VR4 Galants can be modded to almost 400 hp?! Friend of a friend who sold my brother his SE-R (haha did you get that?) had one he claimed put out 300-350hp? I cant remember but those are hot cars.
What makes a Neon an ACR? Alot of Crap Resold? Automatic Cars for Retards? lol just wondering.
                    btw welcome again.

SRT4's last year of production will be for the 2005 year model i think...i don't think any 2006s are being made. ah well...kinda makes it a rare car later on i guess, just like the galant vr4s...maybe. haha

galant vr4s have the same motor and awd setup as the dsm triplets. 4g63, 14b, awd...yea. do anything motor-wise to a dsm, u can do it to a galant vr4 also. i have big plans for this one

ACR = American Club Racer. basically an autocross package...95-96 neon acr's came with Arvin struts (much better for autocross than the regular struts). 97-99 neon acr's came with koni adjustables. all first-gen neon acr's had stiffer springs and a 3.94 transmission with the .81 5th gear, which means better acceleration (than the 3.55 tranny), and even better acceleration in 5th gear than the regular 3.94 trannies. all-wheel disk brakes with no abs, and pretty much no options. 14" alloys. 2-dr acr's are dohc, 4-drs are sohc. there...that's ur neon lesson for the day

thanks for the comments on the cars!

purely for cold-air induction...it's the only real place to put a filter where it'll grab cold air, at least that i've found. half the filter is below the radiator support (instead of behind the radiator where heat ends up flowing through), away from the exhaust manifold, and at least 4" away from anything big that blocks air from coming in. only downsides are that i can't drive in the rain/snow and that the filter gets dirty really quickly

I remember reading about the VR-4 back in the day. Mitsu pretty much threw everything into that car.

Here's a brief summary from Edmunds:

A 195-horsepower engine lurks under its sedate exterior. Standard antilock brakes, four-wheel steering, and leather seating surfaces are a few of the standard equipment items found on this very competent sedan.

Sounds a bit like a factory SE w/H22a and 4WS ... etc. Damn I wish sedans like this caught on in America.

thank ya and yes, that filter was f*n dirty. only 5k miles on that (since being recharged)...when i cleaned it a couple weeks ago, i had to use the cleaning spray thing TWICE and it was still spitting out gray stuff
