    99 Teg R

Well I'll start by saying this isn't my car nor do I have any knowledge of Honda related cars.

But anyway my buddy has a 99 Type R that he turboed, had tuned and "blew" up the motor. It sat for a few years outside, and is now in my garage.

My role in this is pulling the motor, taking it apart and replacing hopefully only the block. The motor is already out and I'm procrastinating on taking it apart. Might start tonight. Here is some proof lol

Cool car. Are you planning to keep it turbo or return to stock?

Either way depending on the condition and damage done you might want to consider just replacing the pistons/rods with forged ones. I dont know how easy you will find a b18c5 block to do a simple swap, or how long a used block would last if you keep it turbo.

Post up some pictures when you get it apart, lets see some carnage!

Respect for the car, but I've always hated those headlights. The JDM front end looks good though.

It's not my car, he is definitely keeping it turbo. I've never really like integras myself either..

Onto some more tear down and carnage.

        The culprit, cracked #4 sleeve.

Ouch, at least a rod didnt break and take out the block and head. How much power was this car making, any idea?

          Whats next? B20 block maybe?

          OR

darton sleeves and forged pistons/rods and 500+whp?

            Definitely a B18 again.

I think he is planning on dropping like 25-3000 on a bottom end. still need to get the head to a machine shop and test for warpage and cracks.

Here it is the replacement. All 2700 dollhairs worth (not my money).

Man... It always makes me sad to see modified ITRs. Such cool cars, and such collector's items now. They're better in stock form. Perfect from the factory, IMO... and I'm not an Integra fan normally!
I agree that the round headlights aren't as nice as the JDM front, but I'd be fine with it.

I met someone here that has two mint ITRs stashed away...all stock. $2700 for a motor sounds so expensive to me for some reason. I paid less than that for whole cars lol.

For a B18C5, I think that might actually be really cheap!

What is all done to the new motor? Hopefully at least some lower compression pistons?

I just saw a mint 98 sell on Ebay for over 28K. They're going to be worth some serious money in the not to distant future. A bone stock 98 is on my lottery list.

Started swapping some things over to the new motor, waiting on a clutch, resurfaced flywheel, and some gaskets still.

Still need to drill and tap a hole in the block for the knock sensor since the B18A that is going in it doesn't have one stock.

Idk what has all been done to the motor. But I know it has some turbo ready parts, and should easily make 500hp+ to the wheels

Pretty much ready to drop in, just waiting on a clutch, resurfaced flywheel, and some gaskets.

Relocation of the knock sensor in the B18A block since it didn't have one.

I hope he isn't tossing the original long block.
