2015 Ford Mustang renders reveal look of the real thing

This is, according to the pony-car obsessed kids over at Mustang6G.com, the closest, most accurate rendering of the new, 2015 Ford Mustang to date. Artis Chazcron used a combination of Ford CAD images and information from assorted spy shots to assemble a fairly handsome car, albeit one that conforms to the tired cliché of being more evolutionary than revolutionary.

Now, it's very important to note that these are still speculative renders, and that they only represent the base car - that could explain the lack of the Mustang's vestigial side scoops, along with other, newer styling cues that Mustang6G seems to think will arrive on production models. Those items include a new, double-bubble roof, although the Mustang aficionados claim that even if it were present, it'd barely be visible from these angles.

The front end is pretty spot on, compared to what we've seen from earlier spy shots, while the tail, with its interesting light design is something new. The louvered taillights look quite different from the current version, obviously, though Mustang has gone the whimsical route with taillights before. Also, note the new rear diffuser uses an integrated reverse light and rear foglight, the latter of which is required for sale in Europe.

According to reports, this is merely the first trickle of a coming deluge of Mustang information. Sources are claiming that the Mustang will actually be shown near the end of December (merry Christmas indeed!), while official teaser images will start popping up any day now. We'll have much more on the new Mustang ahead of its predicted debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

Is this computer-generated rendering representative of the final design for the 2015 Ford Mustang? Possibly. The lines do align nicely with what we’ve seen in previous spy shots, suggesting that the 2015 Mustang will maintain the current car’s classic styling cues but combine them into a shape that’s modern and sleek.

From the previous spy shots, we know the 2015 Mustang will be roughly the same size as the current car, but with a lower roof. There will also be a clear family resemblance with other Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] products; the shapes for the headlights and grille seen on prototypes are very similar to those found on the latest Taurus and Fusion models.

Other than these renderings, we don’t have any new information beyond what we’ve already reported. The covers are expected to come off around the end of the year, most likely setting up the 2015 Mustang for a world debut at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January.

Weight should be down on the current car, possibly to the tune of 400 pounds less, and fuel consumption further cut by the introduction of a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The base engine is expected to remain a V-6, however, and the Mustang GT should still come with a 5.0-liter V-8.

2015 Ford Mustang 3D Renders Allegedly Made from Official CAD Images [Updated]

As one of the oldest and most popular sports car nameplates in America, the Ford Mustang captures the imagination of just about everyone, so it comes as no surprise that there's a lot of interest in every new generation - even more so when the new model promises to redefine the genre and become a global vehicle.

By now, with so many scoop shots and renderings (including our own that was created based on information sourced from people who actually saw the car), you should have a pretty good idea of what the 2015 Mustang will look like. If you don't, here's one more set of 3D computer images for your viewing pleasure.

They are sourced from Mustang6g, which states that, they were created "from CAD images of the actual production car - which can't themselves be posted for obvious reasons".

The same site says that, according to "multiple inside sources", Ford may not wait until next year for the Mustang's 50th anniversary to show the car, providing us a first look as early as this December.

Update: New CAD photos of the 2015 Mustang Coupe have been added to to the image gallery below.
