    6th gen accords

im looking to get something newer here soon and keep the cb as a project/fun car. ive been looking into 6th gen accords. theyre new enough for me and i think they look pretty nice also. im just wondering how owners of 6th gens on this board think of thier cars. what they like/dont like and problems. insight would be great!

i have one and it is a great dd. mine is a 5 speed and i wouldn't recommend an automatic. if you want a normal car to drive around, there's not much to complain about it. later.

The only thing I know is if it's a V6, get a manual, those autos are prone to failure.

There are no V6 6th generation Accords that came stock with manual transmissions. That didn't happen until 2003.

I have a 2002 EX V6 coupe. I like the concept of it well enough, but mine has a lot of issues related the the previous owner (a friend) that make it difficult for me to REALLY like the car at the moment. I bought it so that I could put my CB in the garage to be torn down. Now I exclusively drive my work truck so the battery is dead on my 2002 Accord every time I actually need to drive it.

Suspension and engine-wise it seems comparable. The interior is nowhere near as well-designed. The plastics clip together in a lot of places with just enough screws to cause you to break the plastic bits when taking everything apart because you forget about them. The textures aren't as nice as the CB either. However, my interior is charcoal, which is a welcome feature over blue, maroon or gray. Also, I have normal cupholders and not those meant for cups whose proportions don't exist in the USA like the CB was designed for.

I had one and it had very little problems. Mine was a 99 LX auto. The only major problem i had was a recall made for the ignition switch, which i believe is a common problem in the 99. My car already had the recall done but acted up again. easy swap though. In my area, manual was common in the LX, and very rare in EX. My buddy that works for Honda explained that the V6's do have common problems with the tranny slipping and such. But if you do find a V6 that has no slippage, just change the trans oil on it more often than recommended and you shouldn't have any problems
