    Stock? Definetly the Original Humvee.

Stock I would say the unimog... that thing is f'in crazy. Best for someone on a budget, or with a few bolt ons, wrangler. No matter what, the hummer will always be too wide for some places where the wrangler sneaks through.

Well I agree with Aero, on a buget the Wrangler, Ranger, or Defender would be the best bet. But with price out the window i would say, stock, Unimog; tuned.........................................

Fully loaded H1, aftermarket special or the Unimog, but not many aftermarket parts.

now a modified Nissan Patrol with something like 36" tires on it will kill anything.

PATROL?!?!?!?! If you head down that road get a Defender 90. That stock would take a Patrol with 36s. Even a Rubicon would take a Patrol.

On this same topic.. Kinda... Jeep Wranglers at least.

Just sit back, and think how much money jeep makes off the wranglers... They have been pretty much the same for the whole time they have been out... needing not much tooling change. They are very simple, and dont come with many extras. The straight 6 engines have also been in there forever, and are simple and cheap to produce. I am willing to bet though that they are the only thing keeping chrysler/jeep from going under, or coming close

right an older would do damage to a lot of newer off-roaders. As for Jeep they have a lot going for them, price, capability, etc. But the Defender I think has has a better evolution then the Jeep. So all year every day use I would get teh Defender and do a few things to it. Like tires, snorkle, skid plates and a winch.

stock for stock........unimog, then the rubicon........i own about 100 or so off roading magizines, i pretty much have the memorized, some guy even took unimog axels and put them on a jeep wrangler. but if i had to go with price, off course the rubicon, its the most capable jeep ever made, they come with 2 looking diffs, bigger meats, i mean these things rock, i wish i had one

I'm a toyota man on this one too!

you cant go in the 4wd category w/o adding toyota to the list.
with 6 landcruisers+1 4runner+1 Toyota Pickup, in the family, those things are tanks, literally, its like putting a Rubicon to shame with 70's standards. heres our 77 5spd, Turbo Diesel FJ40, with all stainless steel body panels, 1 of only 3 registered in the U.S.

Can you say Camburg? they make some of the sickest truck suspension out there for desert driving
