    SUPRA is DOWN....BHG

so driving to work i noticed the tone of the engine change and smoke commin out the hood...not a lot of smoke but smoke non the less...after drivin a couple more blocks to pull over, there was more and more smoke commin out from engine bay and from exhaust, first thing that came to mind, BHG. sooo...i hardly make it to work which was just a few more blocks down. I leave the car there and pick it up the next day. Today i was workin on the car to determine the problem. I am getting the spark plugs smothered in oil. After asking around everyone points to BAD HEAD GASKET (BHG) which is a common problem in MK3's and cost a lot of $$ to fix. So i now begin saving up money for this costly job.

i just wanted to share the pain wit u guys, i know most of u are goin to say. "why did u get rid of the cb7", well guys it was time for another car and some boost. I would buy a cb7 but again funds are low and i wanna keep the fat ass.

    thx to those who listen.

Yeah, I did my research on the 86.5-91 Supras and that headgasket was the one thing I kept running into. If you redo it, make sure you use a good gasket. I think its TRD that makes a copper one.

DAmmit Julio... I'm never gonna see the Supra at this rate!

This spring I'm planning on meeting up with Klevis (alb_accord) and a couple of the Jersey guys to go junkyard hopping. You're more than welcome to join us! I wouldn't mind tearing into a few junker Supras if there are any!

                    Update:

sooo...after my car being down for about...2months? and after tryin to get a DA and guy not callin me back (shit and i wanted to trade it for a CB7), and after not bein able to get any + on my funds. I bumped/talked to a guy from delaware who SAYS he builds and works on 7mgte's, and owns a nice looking mk3. So i explained my situation and he is suppose to help me out saturday on workin on the car....and im excited as shit.. i'll be puttin in a HKS 1.2mm metal head gasket and arp bolts...hopefully everything will go alright and we'll get it done, only thing is we hafta work in the street because i have no garage...ah well...

other news are...i recieved my port and polish head which really looks nice but it wont be installed just yet, because i need to visit a machine shop to do a valve job and such....here are some pics.

                    i'll keep u guys updated...

                    Thx.

thats funny i was just working on a 87 turbo with a bhg. it ran so bad. and the kid that fixed it had the timing off so bad the exhaust was only putting out half the time....it was horrible.

Good luck man. I had a 87 na in high school that blew a head gasket. I ended up selling it and getting a 89T that a family friend helped me work on. MKIII's are fun to work on imo. btw do you have a targa top leak?
