    Stupid Dodge Caravan question.

Stupid refers to both the Caravan and my question.

What would cause the brand new non-A/C alternator belt to seperate between the v-ribs? It has less than 20 miles on it, literally, and yes, I'm sure the tension was correct. I can't see anything touching it anywhere, it was seated perfectly in the pulleys and they look like they're aligned to me. Neither one has been removed, although I did bypass the A/C compressor and remove the idler pulley per a Dodge tech.

Something I should look for, or did I just get a shitty belt?

    Because it is a Caravan.

No but really we had one and it was the worst automobile my family ever had, with maybe the Ford Topaz being the only exception.

Regardless my vote is on the shitty belt.

    Who made the belt?

I hate the damn thing. I really do. It sounds funny (always has compared to the coupe), it's slow (due to having the smallest engine in it), it's frigging lipstick red, the tranny went into limp mode, it seems to have rusted overnight and then the compressor took a crap. I'd trade it for something ugly that was dependable in a heartbeat.

I don't remember who made the belt, but it's got a warranty and that bastards going back to the part store today. lol
