    VW owners/mechanics HELP

I have a friends car. 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 4cyl. I have used some head gasket additives that you must pour into the radiator. I had to flush the system out and remove the thermostat for this procedure.

I have stopped the gasket leak and refilled with g12 radiator fluid as specified by OEM specs.

Now that I have refilled, the car overheats after 5 mins of driving. I have tried everything from blasting the heater while pouring, to revving the engine to 2500 revolutions to force the air out.... I am just stuck

Why are VW's so damn complicating?

I need input on the correct procedure to fix the heating problem. Heater works fine and all hoses get hot. No smoking at all. The previous owner put standard coolant which is green. I put g12 which is pink and I dont know if that is the problem.

Just help me out someone. Need to return the car in the next few days.
    Thanks.

    Ant,

VW's are like women. Complicated and finicky.

With VDubs, you think it is part A that is the issue and after replacing all related parts, it ended up being the last part you would even think of.

Put the standard shit in. Enough said!

Flush the entire system out with the the stuff you put in. Replace with correct stuff.

    Of course, I am speaking from experience. From owning 1.8 - 2.0 8v & 16v -1.8T - G60 - VR6's...
    RETIRED...

I used the correct stuff, g12.

I think it could be the thermostat but its only after driving. I can stay on idle for 20 minutes with no overheating.
I may change the thermostat but dang that g12 shit is $15 a bottle (1.5L).

the fans turn on with the AC. I took the thermostat out so it would clog.

I dont know but I have a headache now. It will not rise in temp until I drive on it.

it would overheat at idle when the radiator is not getting enough airflow if the thermostat is bad unless it is stuck open.

Pull the thermostat out and see if it over heats then.... BTW you did not fix anything pouring that crap in the engine... All you did was either mask the problem or make it worse.... Id flush it all out and put a new head gasket in
