my friend has a 89 he broke an axel and then he changed it and broke the other one due to one of his motor mounts being broken so he had to replace both of those, O and his clutch but thats cuz he learned how to drive stick and race in it but other then that his runs great

I LOVE the SE-i's and LX-i coupes. If they weren't 16-19 years old (DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN!!!!) I prob. would have got one.

SEi are all auto But they're hella nice... The LXis are what to get. I think I'll be fixing mine up now... Screw any other project. The 3G is damn sexy!

I saw a manual SE-i once on Autotrader for $500...damn I wish I wasn't broke. Anyway Hasport should make F/H-series swap kits for the 3g Accords and Preludes...those bodies with 200+ power, all-motor or boosted??? Can you say mid-12's gutted, mid 13's on the street easily, w/o the Civic stigma?

I had an 89 se-i (brittany blue 5 spd). Honda went to the AT only in 91 for their SE's. Here's a pic. of my BEATER that I have fixed up to a decent ride. 3 geez are so cheap and last forever; I just wish the lx-i coupes had power locks and a roof. Rear A arms ALWAYS fail. ALWAYS!!

I paid $1000 for this in 99 and it had 112K on it. He said he was taking it to the yard soon. It was SO BAD I didn't even take pics. of it then. It is ALL ebay/used etc. for the repairs. Even did the SE-i rear brake swap, center console, and cupholder!! Tight whip!

                      I had an 89 LX...miss that car!

Well, I always thought the 3rd gens ALL recieved the double wishbone suspension....*goes to get 89 brochure*...yep ALL have the double wishbone suspension...the LXi has the front and rear stabilizer bars...the LX/DX only have front ones.

Try to find the elusive 89 Se-i-they have 4 wheel disc brakes and other goodies..(top noch back in the day). They come in 5-speeds too! They were only made in 3 colors though...a gunmetal gray, a tan, and the beautiful Brittany Blue (My personal fav!) Se-i's get the leather, armrest, bronze tinted glass, BOSE sound with steering wheel controls and cupholder....trust me, you'll want that cupholder or you'll be holding drinks between the e-brake and the seats! I had to find an Se-i in a junk yard to get one! Some 3rd gens have an armrest..it was an option in 86..hard to find though.

Just don't get a carb or auto. (from personal experience here). Those auto transmissions don't last too long. My tranny never went, but it was going. I parted with the car at about 180k. The carb was just not a smooth a ride as the fuel injected LXi/Sei. Plus, all those damn vacuum lines and adjusting of the idle! Never really had that many probs, just the carb.

Stick with something that has an "i" on the back of it and is a 5-speed...you'll be good. They are good little cars, and get awesome gas mileage. My LX, auto got about 27/32....

                      And about hp....
                      -86-89 DX/LX's have 98hp/102tq
                      -86-87 LXi has 110hp/tq?
                      -88-89 LXi (and 89 Sei) has 120hp/122tq

You can tell if it's an 86/87 or 88/89 by the front signal turn lights. The 88/89 have a clear with a little orange square. The 86/87 have all orange ones. The taillights are slightly different too among other things. And NO airbags on ANY! Coupes and hatches have NO sunroofs!

Well hope this helps, good luck, 3gees are awesome, you'll love it!
I think I love you ....girls into cars = hottness. You probably have that Louisiana accent too

Anyhow, when I looked up information on these Accords for him, the LXi was the only one with double wishbone suspension, not the other (not including this SEi...don't know much on this, but what you told me). Also, as an update on this matter, we ended up looking at another car he was interested in...some 90 Accord LX sedan auto that was a total beater = body crapola, but the engine/trans ran strong. Had like 189-200K miles...I forget. Anyways, someone else outbid him. I haven't heard from him lately on if he was still interested in this car, I gave him the info I researched and that was it. Thanks for all the information, you don't need to waste your time posting on this no more with more info...although it was appreciafied

Why not have a 3G thread on the 4G site?

IMO, the 3geez are the next best thing to the 4th... Followed by the 6th, 5th, then 7th (though they do look pretty hot... just way too clunky for me!)

It would be cool to have info on other models of the Accord... Each one has it's strengths and weaknesses, even our beloved CB7!

doesnt rust form on the outside of the car?
