Actually a ton of people do a manual swap. Theres a few options, I believe using the w58 or r154 tranny.

you should either do ITB's or buy the adapter plate to mate an eaton supercharger to the 1uz.

To put it into perspective of how rare a 5spd manual is, there were about 82,000 1st generations SC's made for the US market. Only 5% of 1st generation SC's were manual transmission. The manual transmission SC300 was made during 92-97, and only about 3800 manual transmission SC's were made for the US market during those 6 years.

There not discontinued, they just can't make them fast enough. Carson Toyota told me their taking orders for them before 5zigen even manufactures them. There's actually a set on clublexus going for $779 shipped and there brand new in box. I paid $802 shipped through Toyota. It was about 3 weeks from the time I placed the order to when I got them. There's also a site called speed alliance that has them but they too only have a few if any left.

The 99-00 SC400 is SC perfection imo. It gets better gas mileage than the SC300 and the 1uz is a super smooth engine which is great for everyday driving. If I ever find a 99-00 SC400 locally for a reasonable price I'd sell my 98 SC300 without looking back. The 99-00 SC400 is even rarer than a manual transmission sc300 (1200 out of 82,000).

That is good to know that they still make it. When I first got my SC they were readily available, but they were $900-1200 new, but the price dropped and everyone bought them, then they started saying the exhaust was discontinued. I'd love to buy one now, but buying parts for my car isn't really a priority.
