1993 del sol

time has come to get the girl a new car , She likes my accord but wants something different . She has been looking at a 1993 honda del sol , and feedback back from anyore who has one on here , or is familiar with them? (I.E .... Reliability , removable top problems ? any other problems ?)

They have 1.6L sohc vtec I believe, I like em, I always wanted 1, if I ever was to get 1, I'm droppin a f series motor in that bitch.


There was a few @ my last car show I went to, the 1 was all jdm'd out, and the other was flat blk slammed on air bags, sick!

Well as far as reliabilty, mechanically Del sols are the same as Civic's, so no worries there. Just find a well taken care of one and you're all set.

As far as problems with the top, I googled it and it seems that the seals can dry up and crack, causing leaks. But you can get the seals from Majestic Honda for about $120 Link here

I have never owned a Del Sol, so these are my educated guesses. Check out clubcivic.com, its a decent resource.

My girl has a 1994 Civic EX coupe, and she loves it. It drives great, fun to wind it up and hit Vtec haha.

There's a dealer near me that has a bright red 1 on the lot for 4G's and some change I think that's outrageous

I've also heard you can rub vaseline on the seals too soften 'em up and stop leaks. I don't think it's a huge issue. Cool cars with sweet interiors.

the del sol S has a d15 in it
the Si has a d16 (vtec)
and the del sol VTEC has a b16 (vtec)

SI and del sol VTEC have 4 wheel discs while the S has drums in the rear.

my dad has a 93 SI. there is a pick in my MR thread.

hella fun to drive. so much fun winding that thing up! yet you can easily get upper 30s for fuel economy if you can keep it out of the vtec

we havent had very many problems with it other than seals as mentioned above.

thanks guys , just waiting on the taxes and were gonna pick one up , if not trying to twist her arm on getting another cb , although her second choice would be a cd , which i can live with , as long as its a honda

this is my friends g23(h22 head on f23 block) with prelude tranny del sol, i frankly have to say that other than a 91 turbo supra, this sol is the fastest car i have been in, well i dont ride along in that many cars, but the point is that obviously the car is light and with an engine that strong... you do the math. he says he has eaten g35 and kept up good with evos and after ridding in the car i dont doubt him (i tried to get the same feeling from my h22 93 accord and.....no. it was not the same lol)

me personally, i would not get a del sol, they are great mechanically but i am super concerned with safety, the cb7 is heavy but it protects you, those light weight civics, you get hit at 40mph and most likely you are going to be hurt, but then again there are people who never seem to have accidents, anyhow, hope it works out for the best for you

i say just buy her a cb and tell her thats all u could aford no but for real i never really liked them they seem to small i have sat in one it wasnt that nice to me

... yea man were looking for a cb right now but it has to be rust free and shes looking for certain options. We decided not to get the del sol because of her new job , she is going to have multiple people in the car, but she does like the cbs
