Japan made 6th generation accords better?

I am looking at a 2002 Accord EX (4cyl, automatic) made in Japan. From a quality aspect, is this one better than a US made Accord? In particular, did the auto trannies not use the same parts as US ones?

CG1's were also made in Japan? I thought at the time, only the CF3/4/5/6 were made in Japan.

Never knew there were Made in Japan CGs.

Wait... 2002.. were CGs still made in 2002, or is it the CM5?

            Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

. I can guarantee you could not tell where it was assembled without looking at the vin. That would apply only to cars made in Japan for there own market not export. As would not apply to this case.

About the trans. Any auto trans from that gen is going to be junk. Assembled in the US or Japan.

The assembled in Japan vs US is just BS

Statistically speaking, there is less than a 1% difference in reported issues between Japanese built Accords and US built Accords.

It isn't going to make a difference. We had a US built 2002, while my friend had a Japanese built 2000, and ours had less problems.

Overall, they were very reliable cars, and on a % basis, even the tranny issue isn't that huge.

My friend's parents have 4 honda's, and the 6th gen v-6 (made in USA) is the only one to give them problems. I mean it's probably all BS, but if they buy another accord they are going 4 cyl to get a japanese one. Just for what it's worth.

If the auto trans problems are lets say 1%, how do you know that you don't have a bad apple. Most likey they fail under 100K, but should you buy one that had the trans replaced (assuming its not going to fail again) or buy one that has 120K or more?

all cg's were made in the US, ohio to be exact

the euro r is the only closest thing to our usdm accord

the reason why most of the I4 and v6 trannys failed were faulty parts that were assembled in mexico. the 2002 models were suppose to be the fixed versions.

Get an extended warranty, check the condition of the fluid, and drive it. If it slips, makes noise, or does anything out of the ordinary, then don't get it.

Or buy a 5 speed. Of course, that rules out the V6.

False. US built Accords don't come with JHM vin tags. I have seen a couple of them, although they were not as common. Most likely, during that time frame they switched some production to Japan, because of the strong dollar, which would have made production in Japan more profitable. Also, some were probably built for other countries as the "US" Accord isn't just sold in the US. They may have also done it for capacity reasons, as the Marysville plant could very well have been tapped out (the 6th gen is the best selling Accord gen to date). I personally always thought they were ALL US made as well, but they I found out I was wrong.

Plus, the 2002's aren't immune to the problem and the 2000 STILL had more problems.

The only difference between JHM 6th gens and 1HG 6th gens is small stuff like SRS stuff, some emission devices, different interior clips, lol, stupid stuff.
There was a 99 JHM accord today that came in with a check engine light.
Torque converter fail and Evap leak.
