I just bought a 1995 civic for 500 bucks with a bad engine. Should i rebuild the engine or buy a friend of mines motor from his ls integra for two hundred bucks and drop it in. I would build a the D16 with high comp pistons, ITBs, bisi cam, and all the other supporting mods. Or should i just build a ls/vtec b18. I like the d motor because parts are really cheap, but ls/vtec would cost me at least a thousand dollars. I need a new head and a shorter geared tranny. so im not sure. I would gut this civic all the way out.

I think rebuilding and turbocharging your D16 will be a better bang for your buck if you know what you are doing.
Maybe even throw some forged pistons and rods in there, put together a turbo kit and you could be making serious power

Go with the D, seems everyone around here is taking that route b/c b series stuff is expensive and hard to find, while people are giving d shit away.

All motor D motor wouldnt be as fast as a mild LS/V, I say boost I have a friend has a built turbo Del Sol ran 11.8 in the 1/4. Turbod16.com and or d-series.org would be a good site to start, and I am sure you need at least different motor mounts. GLLove Built Inc.Comment

i think i am going to turbo the d, with some vitara pistons and shotpeen the rods. Went on to d-series.org and i recommend that site to anybody who wants to learn the basics in engine managment and tuning theory. Very Very good write-ups and information. Just a very good site in general. Also turbod16.com is very good as well.Comment

Yea I would stick with the D, nowhere near as pretty as the B but the B is overpriced as fuck whereas for the same money the D could do some serious damage.
